How soon can I test please ?

Hi how soon after sex can you test for pregnancy if you had unprotected sex on your period ? And you didn't know if you were ovulating or not? Thankyou x

Do you mean you had sex during your period?

If so then you aren't pregnant because you are not fertile during your period. Your fertile window lasts for around 3 days approximately 14 days (although it varies from woman to woman) from the date of your last period.

I understand I'm probably not but I also have read there's a slight possibility as sperm can live up to
5 days and since my periods have not been regular so I know it shouldn't happen but I no it can happen rarely x

You're absolutely right that you can get pregnant on your period if your cycle is particularly short. I would try and figure out the average length of your cycle, even if they're not regular, so if they're 20 days, I'd test maybe 16 days from the start of your last period. Or if you could handle the wait, figure out what your longest cycle has ever been and then test one day after that if you've not got a period.

I’d suggest testing 14 days after you had the unprotected sex. That would mean if the sperm survived for 5 days before fertilisation, you would be testing 9 days post ovulation which is about the earliest you could possibly get a positive result. If the test is negative, wait another few days and try again. Most people (though not all) will get a positive result by 14 days post ovulation so hopefully you will know by around 19 days after your unprotected encounter
