I know there are some of you out there who OV late in cycle i.e not the normal 14 days... so what is the closest to your AF being due did you get PG and did you still come on and also what was the earliest the PG test was +tive?

The time between ovulating and AF arriving will be fairly similar between cycles, and the more variable time can be the time taken to ovulate. If you have longer cycles you probably ovulate later than average, and vice versa. What you need to establish is when you are ovulating. If for any reason the lenght of time between ovulating and AF showing is quite short then this could be a problem, but for most people this is not an issue. It is a bad myth that people who have 28 day cycles will ovulate on day 14 - this is not always the case. Try the fertility friend website for more info about your cycle or the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility. It give you a lot of info about how to tell what your body is doing and when.

why not try use clearblue fertility monitor? it will tell you in advance when you are about to ovulate.

With DS I conceived on about CD27/28 - to this day, I still don't know how as I had been using OPK's and they had shown positive on CD15(ish). Somebody has told me that you can ovulate twice in one cycle but I don't know how true that is.

the sequence of events was something like this (iirc):

I did 2 pg tests on CD28 and CD31 - both negative. Started bleeding on CD32 which I assumed was my AF and didn't think anything more about it. When I was still bleeding quite a lot 10 days later (about CD42), plus I was knackered all the time and my boobs were sore, I thought I may be pg so did a test which was positive. The doctors confirmed it and I eventually went for a scan about a week later because of the bleeding - we thought I was about 8 weeks pg at the time but the scan showed everything was ok but I was only 6 weeks pg therefore I had not conceived when the OPK's gave a positive result but actually conceived 2 weeks afterwards.

4 days after af, but af was late by a week due to long haul flight

mad4mybaby · 11/03/2008 20:10

ceebee how many days are your cycle>? im varying between 28-33 since coming off pill 4 months ago.. 5th cycle will be next week (or not hopefully!) I had been doing opks this month and had a reasonably strong opk on day 11 and then on cd 17 was very positive.. i know it comes down to picking up surges..some days i have faint line and some nothing and always test twice a day at same times.

thanks for responses guys, was starting to feel lonley!

Mad4 - at the time it was only my 3rd cycle after coming off the pill and my AF's were all over the place (first one was 21 days, second one 28 days) so who knows.

I am now on my 5th cycle too after coming off the pill and my AF's seemed to have settled into a 29-30 day pattern - however, I am now on CD30, no AF signs but BFN when I test so I think this cycle has gone a bit strange - grrrrr!

I am on a TTC thread where we have all agreed that BD every other night is the best way so maybe worth a shot - but fingers crossed for you this month

thanks ceebee
