Egg collection

Hi all

First time posting but need a bit of advice.

Had my first ever egg collection yesterday and have been positive through the whole process, injecting everyday and even yday for the collection.

Got a total of 15 eggs which I was amazed at until this morning when I was told only 3 were mature. I’m totally devastated at the amount that weren’t mature. 3 have fertilised which is amazing and I know we only need one for our potential fresh transfer next week. But got told they may not have matured to me not doing the trigger correctly which is weighing heavy and I’m an emotional mess. I don’t think it’s helping that I’m still a bit sore from the collection.

Has this happened to anyone else?

I’m trying to stay positive and hubby is being amazing but it’s so hard and feel like a bit of a failure.

I had three fertilized eggs, only two grew properly.
I have two amazing teens now.

It is an emotional roller coaster of process but you do only need one to work for your transfer.

Be kind and generous with yourself you are going through a lot.

Don’t beat yourself up about this. 3 eggs fertilised is good going. I had ivf in sept 2022, 5 eggs collected, only 2 mature. I was devastated and thought I had fallen at the first hurdle.
The 2 mature eggs both fertilised and I had them both put back in on day 5. 10 days later I was looking at a positive pregnancy test!
My son is now 5 months old 😄
I hope this post gives you some hope and I wish you all the very best wishes on your ivf journey
