I’m over 40. Fertility clinic said nothing was wrong with me but DH has low count. First IVF failed, I only produced one egg. Subsequent ultrasound with NHS showed healthy ovaries with several follicles, so idk why I did not respond to the ovary stimulating drug with the clinic. NHS is now taking FOREVER to get me in for IVF.

I don’t want to be resentful but I feel like DH has not taken his count issue seriously, has not made much of an effort, and meanwhile my fertility is slipping away with age. I think I would have gotten pregnant naturally if not for that.

Please don’t judge me, but a friend gave me her unused Clomid. I did all the research and I know it’s mainly for women with PCOS and not for women my age. But I’m just sick of waiting on the NHS for months and fear that I will miss out because of things outside of my control. So I took it, following instructions online.

Now I’m 5 days late for AF but still testing negative. So now I worry I’ve got myself in a pickle if all I’ve done is mess up my cycle 🤦🏼‍♀️

Questions 1) Anybody overcome a LSC issue? 2) Success over 40? 3) Clomid delaying AF? 4) Anyone get negative tests for awhile after missed period?

I don’t want to tell a doctor what I’ve done until I give it some time to see if period shows up 😬

@Applewisp I'm sorry you've had no replies, unfortunately I can't help as I've never taken Clomid. I hope your cycle returns to normal soon or you get you BFP🤞. I'm 41 and been ttc for 12 cycles (had 1 MMC and 1 CP in that time) myself and OH have just started fertility investigations. I'm booked in for a hysterocopy in 2 weeks and he'll have analysis then too. Although I don't think the problem is him as I've conceived twice this year. Is your OH taking any vitamins or anything? If you search previous threads you'll find loads of advice on unceasing his motility. In the meantime I think you definitely need to talk to him and let him know how upset you are and ask him to make more of an effort. I hope it all works out for you soon 🤞

It takes just one sperm and one egg, so a low sperm count is not a barrier to conception (as you know). However, this coupled with your age will reduce your chances every month, but the great news is you have viable eggs and sperm. You're in a brilliant position, and I think you should smell the roses for a second.

However, you should never ever take drugs not prescribed to you. Especially drugs that will (and have evidently messed with your cycle). Having a regular cycle is like gold dust at any age, but especially your age.

You are likely not pregnant. Please bin whatever clomid you have left.

You also say you likely would have gotten pregnant if your partner had taken his sperm count more seriously.

I'm going to disagree with your thinking on this. Mobile sperm but with a low count is extremely hard to rectify.

Plenty of couples don't make it though IVF with resentment hanging over them.

How long have you been trying?
