When to get progesterone checked

My GP has told me to have my progesterone checked. She said 7 days before my period is due to start but I'm only having 8 day luteal phases

So I'm confused as to whether it's meant to be 7 days after ovulation? Or should I really get it done 1 day after ovulation?

7 days post ovulation is peak progesterone so a blood test on that day is best.

Assume you're having this test due to an 8 day luteal phase because it isn't long enough to sustain a pregnancy.

Definitely 7 days after you’ve ovulated as that will be your progesterone peak lovely

Thank you! That makes sense to me.
I kept asking is it 7 days after ovulation and she kept just saying 7 days before your period! I was like that makes no sense!
