IVF in RFC Belfast

Hi Everyone (I'm new to this forum), my husband and I have been TTC for three years with no luck and we were referred to RFC earlier this year and had our initial consultation in June, our follow up appointment was yesterday (25/10/2023) and we were then referred for IVF treatment.

I know it states estimated timeframes online of how long it takes for your initial IVF consultation etc but I was wondering how long it took for people to actually get their appointments and your own experiences throughout the process?

I have been reading up online what is involved with IVF, does anyone have any tips, what to expect etc? I don't know anyone that has undergone IVF treatment and don't really have anyone to talk to about it.

Thanks in advance

@Capricorn1992 after your follow up consultation it's usually 4 months before you start treatment with rfc. I would say you'll start your consents in about 2-3 months

By the way , don't worry yourself. I just had my retrieval on Tuesday with them.
One thing I can say about rfc is they will take great care of you from start to finish and your well supported throughout the process. You honestly couldn't ask for a better team. Your in great hands.

@MoonlightDreamer Thank you :) I kind of knew we would end up having to go down the route of IVF and was relieved that we didn't have to get any more tests done before being referred for it.
How are you feeling after your retrieval?

hey, I’m new to the forum myself. Im 41, ttc for 2 years and I’m currently undergoing my first IVF cycle with RFC. We were added to the waiting list at the end of July,
6 weeks later (beginning of Sept) we received letter to start consent forms. Due to cycle my first appointment for bloods/medication collection was beginning of October. So 3 months from being added onto list for us but I think 4 to 5 months is usual.

I was also a bit lost when it came to what to expect, once you submit your consent forms you’ll have access to an online portal for documents, messages, calendar of medication & appointments. I’ve found the nursing staff always very quick to respond and so lovely from the beginning, you feel like they’re all rooting for you.

So far I’ve found the wait the hardest as you just want to get things started but it has come around quicker than I thought and since then I’ve just been focusing on each step as it comes. Currently at the self injecting stage and I had my halfway scan today - all going as expected thank goodness.

If you wish I can set out my protocol to give you an idea of timeline.

@MoonlightDreamer hope the retrieval went well

@DaisyTee thankyou. I'm currently in the two week wait. Not feeling very hopeful. I've got 2 embabies on board but they were very low grades
