Positive test immediately after period

I ovulate quite late in month (usually day 17/18) and got my period on the usual day 27 on Friday - i did a pregnancy test on Friday before my period arrived and it was a stark negative. My period was a bit weird, maybe slightly lighter flow but still a proper flow but very dark brown. I thought it had finished yesterday (usually lasts about 5 days) but it started up again late last night. This morning i took an ovulation test (as usual) and it was a blazing positive. So took a pregnancy test and its a very bright and obvious pink! No doubt about it.

Anyone had experience of this? I have zero chance of this pregnancy surviving do I? it must be a chemical. please someone get my hopes down. My husbands at work and i don't want to tell him over the phone.

Have you got a photo of the test? My friend had similar but her pregnancy was ectopic (not trying to scare you!). Can you take another test to see if it’s positive as well?

It's definitely positive, but you need to contact your dr straight away, you may need a scan to see what's going on. Good luck x

A scan isn't going to pick-up much at this stage - at best they may offer a blood test.

It's possible you are experiencing implantation bleeding..

I'd suggest seeing how the week / few days go and see if the positive line continues to remain strong(er).

I had this. Bleeding on the day my period was due. Was lighter than normal and didn't last long as as it should. Then positive test, but had bleeding on and off for week or two more. I went to the doc and had a scan at about 6 weeks. All was ok, the bleeding eventually stopped not long after and I now have a little boy.

That is obviously just my experience and for you it could be something else going on so make an appointment to see your GP as soon as you can. Good luck and hope all is ok for you x

Thanks. I have booked a scan today (I was under an IVF clinic before my previous pregnancy so was still on their books)

This happened to me - bled enough to use a tampon and all. Then my "period" stopped short, so I took a test and boom. I was so afraid it was a chemical pregnancy, but no, just implantation bleeding. I also had a couple of other times where I had lighter spotting in the first trimester, but my gorgeous boy is 10 months old and thriving.

They might not see much on a scan yet but can check your HCG levels today and Friday, to see if they're going up at the right rate.

With 4th wee of the day

Been for the scan and it was inconclusive. some areas of the lining were medium thickness and others were thicker, ovaries were consistent with pregnancy though and i ovulated out my left side lol. There wasn't any fluid in the tubes though which generally indicates an ectopic so whilst not impossible an ectopic at this stage is unlikely. so now gotta wait on the blood test. they said if its high they'll test me again on Friday. if its low then it'll probably just pass on its own in about a week so 😱

Sadly it's bad news. my blood test came back at 7.5. so i was pregnant but it's not viable. I started bleeding heavily again last night and my tests this morning were negative.

My progesterone is also a bit low but unsure if that's because the pregnancy wasn't viable or the pregnancy wasn't viable because of the progesterone
