Hi ladies, this thread may be a bit long winded but I really need some advice and I'd be really grateful if you could bear with me. TTC for a few months now. After reading really useful posts on MN decided that to give ourselves best chance of ttc we would have to do BD every other day, which we did. Even thought I knew when I was ovulating, so made sure we definately did BDing then as well. I was therefore guttted when AF arrived on 21 Feb. Just resigned myself to trying again this month , however so far only done BD on Tuesday and Thursday of this week. Last few days I have been extremely bloated with very sore boobs. Don't know why but did a HPT today and it was a BFP! Have since done another and it was the same result. Am delighted but confused - surely BD this week couldn't have given a + result so does that mean February AF wasn't a real period and have I conceived mid February? I'm so sorry to babble on but my head's mush and I don't know what to think

congratulations!!!!

Congratulations that's wonderful. My dr told me it is possible to bleed in early pregnancy espcially around the time your period due.

You could not have conceived this week and got a positive but a positive is a positive.

If you go to your GP, he/she will probably refer you for a dating scan and this will give you your dates. This happened to me a while back, but beware the heartbeat does not always show on a scan until 7 weeks. They dated me as 6 weeks and 5 days but no heartbeat, then had to wait another oouple of weeks before confirming all ok.

Congrats again. x

Congratulations to you. Your AF on 21st of Feb was prob an implantation bleed. You need to go to the docs and request a dating scan but you are probably about six weeks pregnant already - which is absolutely bloody fantastic. If you can hold off two weeks to see a dating scan, you will probably get to see the heartbeat (and btw after you have seen a heartbeat the risk of miscarriage is much lower).

V. pleased for you!

Ladies, your kind words have overwhelmed me - I'm filling up reading them. Thank you so much for your good wishes and quick responses. It took nearly 2 years to try and conceive ds1 so I can't believe I've been so lucky to become pregnant again x

Congrats!!!!!

Ah you wait - we were told 'IVF is your only chance' before conceiving DD naturally, and I'm now pregnant with number 2, conceived while breastfeeding the only time I had sex in months! Once you get going, your body sort of works out what to do.

Now take your folic acid and try (hard) to get some rest, because there is bugger all available once the baby arrives!

Alibobster - thanks - 20 weeks or so already - it's flown by.

You may start feeling a bit crappy in the next week - you may even get some funny cramps - don't panic, it's normal. It's wonderful that you've not found out till now because the very early stages are the most dangerous in terms of something going wrong and it sounds like you've sailed through them.

Alibobster · 08/03/2008 20:30

WMMC, I was out with friends last night and I had such a terrible cramping in my stomach that I had to leave - at least I know now what it was. The only thing which is worrying me is that last month I did take a HPT but it showed negative ( must have been too early) so I've been carrying on as normal. I've had a few glasses of wine and 2 weeks ago I was really unwell so I was taking strong painkillers. I suppose there's no point worrying about it now, what's done is done

A couple of glasses of wine and a few pills is very unlikely to cause a miscarriage (unless your pills are of the illicit variety). It's good to carry on as normal, pregnancy is not an illness - although it certainly feels like it towards the end!

I went to A&E at 3am when I was six weeks pregnant with DD - I had a massive abdo pain - it turned out that it was my internal stitches from a laporoscopy (fertility investigations) I'd had six months previously breaking because my uterus was bigger. Felt like a right arse but they were very nice about it. I guess it's fairly common!

mehdismummy · 08/03/2008 20:38

i am no expert but some women have af even when they are pg. It cant have been from this week. Was af any different from normal? I really hope you are pg.

Alibobster · 08/03/2008 23:32

Hi Mehdismummy - my AF did seem to be pretty normal - maybe a bit lighter bleeding but not much, and it did last for about 3 days. I did experience the same when pregnant with ds1 so fingers crossed everything's ok

mehdismummy · 09/03/2008 01:22

well thats it then. I am gonna cross everything until you let me know. Just remember if its meant to be it will be. No amount of trying or plotting works. I tried for seven years with ds. I have blocked fallopian tubes. Poly cystic ovaries. And was using withdrawal method(dh a prick btw but that another story) and i fell pg. Someone or something higher than us decides. They obviously have decided its your turn. So happy for you. X

Alibobster · 13/03/2008 20:44

Well, went to EPU today for a scan and they found nothing, even did an internal scan and nothing there either. I was so upset, couldn't stop the tears. My beautiful 21 month ds was standing beside me with his wee fingers curled round mine (this probably made me worse)Anyway on a slighly positive note they took blood and my HCG level is 91. The midwife thinks it may just be a very early pregnancy and this is why nothing is showing up yet. She is completely baffled though by the dates I gave her for LMP and b'ding, as nothing seems to match up - this is making me feel very pessimistic as well as confused. Also, they don't do blood tests at the w/end so have to wait until Monday to test levels again. Please cross everything for me, thanks x P.s did another HPT on Tuesday night; + result appeared quickly
