BBT confusion

Been ttc for a few months now and thought I’d start taking temps in addition to ovulation tests but if anything I’m even more confused now as to when I ovulate. Usually have a 28 day cycle so pretty regular.
My temp seems to go up and down all the time so finding it hard to read. It rose on day 14 which I think is usually when I ovulate, however on CB tests I had a static face that same day and the next. That test was definitely negative the previous day. Don’t these tests indicate a high LH before ovulation?
since then my temps have been up and down. There was a big drop on day 17 and then It rose again and then dropped the day before my period was due. It then rose again. My period was a few days late and it’s only dropped now today on day 4 of my period. I thought it was meant to stay low once period was due?
I take temp at same time every morning usually. Just at a bit of a loss as to how it’s actually meant to help, I feel more confused than before!

Do you temp orally? If not do it vaginally. More accurate x

Orally… this is so far

I didn't find it very accurate so changed it to vaginally and conceived that month. Obviously did other things to help x

Temperature rises after ovulation so you probably ovulated on CD13, did you do an ovulation test on CD12?

Some people find the digitals hard to get on with. The strips work well. Also your LH surges in the morning and takes about 4 hours to show up in your urine so make sure you’re taking one around 12pm and again in the afternoon when you think you’re coming up to ovulating.

I think your chart looks good but I’d say CD13 was ovulation. If you put your temps into the Fertility Friend app it’ll
calculate a base line and identify ovulation and it’ll look much clearer.

When you say you take your temp at the same time each morning, is it as soon as you wake up and before you get out of bed?

Thanks for all the advice. Yes I always do the ovulation tests from about day 10. It was my first time using the smiley face ones, was more used to the line ones!
Yes always do temp in bed before I get up or move around. It’s been consistently much lower now the past couple of days, just thought it was odd that it took a few days into period to drop!
