Day 3 and Day 21 tests - help!

Can anyone tell me what Day 3 and Day 21 tests measure? I'm totally confused, I had Day 21 test very early 2022 which gave me a load of results - progesterone, LH level, TSH level etc.

Recently spoke to the doctor to see if there were any further tests I could have and she wanted to repeat my day 3 and day 21 tests. I explained that I'd only had day 21 tests previously and she suddenly sounded very confused...!

I had my repeat Day 21 test this week and the only result I can see is progesterone. Is this right?? Why don't I have all the other results I had last time?

If anyone is willing to share their day 21 tests I'd really appreciate it 😊

Day 21 bloods are to measure progesterone, but sounds like your other doc ran additional tests as well.

They are predominantly progesterone tests though, to see if you're ovulating. Should be taken 7 days after expected ovulation, hence the name as the average cycle has ovulation on day 14 so day 21 is 7 days later.

If you ovulate earlier or later than day 14 you should have the test on the appropriate day (not day 21).

Thank you so much, this is really helpful.

I think last time the doctor gave me forms for both blood tests, but didn't tell me that one was for day 3. So I had all bloods done on day 21, including those that should have been done on day 3.

So results that they classed as normal almost 2 years ago may actually not be normal at all because they were done at the wrong time ☹️☹️

My progesterone result was pretty low too (22.4nmol), lower than last time. Urgh, this is all such hard work and depressing, why do people thinking making babies it's easy, it's so hard.

I'm waiting on day 3 tests, does anyone know what they are to show / not show? So many tests, so many questions that they don't always explain it simply enough for me 🤦🏻‍♀️

@Vic231 I had mine yesterday so will let you know what is actually tested when I get the results. The way my doctor explained it was to establish how hard my brain and body has to work to ovulate each month. I'm having my tests as they're needed so I can be referred for an ultrasound to check my tubes are clear.
