Spotting and light periods

Hello,

I'm wondering if anyone has experienced something similar to me and if so, if anything helped when ttc?

  • I spot every month from 5DPO up to my period.
  • My period is then very light 2-3 days (barely fill a tampon).
  • TTC for 18 months
  • NHS did bloods on day 3 and day 21 - all hormones okay (including progesterone)
  • Went privately for all other fertility tests - all clear
  • no concerns re smear test, cervical ectropion, polyps
  • Doctor not concerned but said to consider IVF if not pregnant in next 6 months.

Just wondering if anyone else experienced spotting and light periods but successfully conceived?

If so, do you know what could have helped?

Did you continue to spot the month that you did conceive?

Thanks!

I'm a spotter. It's normal for me and it's never stopped me from conceiving (unfortunately my issue is recurring miscarriage).

Currently six weeks pregnant and spotting did start as normal for that cycle but then stopped completely and a couple of days later I got my BFP.

The uterus is a very big compared to a blastocyst, and even if your lining is starting to break down there is still plenty of room for the blasto to implant, and once it does it will send out a hormonal signal to stop the lining from breaking down further.

Not sure about the light periods though ... have they always been light? If so it may just be your normal.

@AceOfCups thanks so much for the reply.

So sorry to hear about your previous losses. I really hope your current pregnancy goes well 🤞🏻

It's positive to know that I might still be pregnant even when I spot, but after 18 months I'm losing hope! My periods have only been this light since coming off the pill after being on it for about 8 years.

Given how long we've been trying, I do suspect there must be something underlying that's causing it all but I've done every test so not sure what else can be done.

Thanks again and sending lots of well wishes for your pregnancy ❤️
