Early testing - yes or no?

Swore I'd stick it out to 14dpo (if I get there - last cycle I had an 8 day LP!!!!)

But I'm now 8dpo and I'm torturing myself! Part of me is saying if it's positive I could potentially put myself out of this misery a few days earlier

What do other people do and what are your reasonings behind?

I tested too much and too early my last two cycles and ended up disappointed and sad with every bfn. Its hard but not worth in my opinion to test early. This is my second cycle doing opks and bbt and finding that bbt drops the day of AF so this time if I don’t get a drop I’ll test. However I’m 12dpo now and getting impatient 😂

we do see a lot of people here getting bfps early as 8/9/10 dpo but that’s not the norm so I think it sets up unrealistic expectations and leads to more disappointment than needed.

I don't test until AF due... partly to prolong hope, partly to save money, and partly to reduce the anxiety of those early weeks - especially after a MMC earlier in the year.. I want to spend as little time as possible in the first trimester! Also, I just had a chemical last cycle (lost at 19dpo), so I don't think I'd be able to take anything much earlier than that as particularly safe or exciting at the moment.

Part of me can see the thrill of testing early and the 'is it or isn't it' but the reality of it wouldn't be that great for me.

That’s also a good point. Potentially we won’t know that we have a chemical by testing later (although it still can happen)

Hi @mrsmesx
Totally hear you hun! x
I just about held out till 11dpo, got bfp at 12dpo. Hope you get your bfp xx

When I first started TTC I was testing at 7 DPO 🫠

I’m on cycle 10 now and haven’t tested in a few months, I just wait for AF.

My reasons is because once I do one test that’s it I want to do one every day, morning and night, it gets very expensive 🤣

Thanks everyone you've given me new found strength to carry on!
To be honest the last cycle 8 day LP has really freaked me. I'm so scared AF will arrive on 9dpo tomorrow again. It was my first cycle off the pill but I never had these problems with my son went straight into a 12 day LP
