I was in a long relationship for 3-4 years and then after met my husband we’ve been together 4 years in my first relationship we never used contraception for 2 years but only had sex once a month. With my husband due to medication he has a low libido so we only have sex 1- 2 times a month. We have never used contraceptives only for about a month when we met. We are trying for a baby and it’s been noted by the doctor as they tried to put me on the coil for my endometriosis which I declined. I haven’t got pregnant in all this time but what are the odds of getting pregnant when only have it sex that little. He’s trying to sort out his low libido but the tablets are crucial for him to take (not antidepressants). I do have endometriosis so am a where that I may struggle to conceive. We do always have sex when I’m fertile though. He’s at a loss really on how to increase his libido he does occasionally give himself a hand job or I do and was thinking we could syringe some of it into be so my chances are higher but that all seems so silly.

If you’ve been trying for 12 months or more you can go to the GP.

I know I can go after 12 months but we’ve only been having sex once a month so I don’t think we’ve given trying a real go well atleast I think the doctor will think that

@Babymaybe1 it wouldn't be impossible to get pregnant just doing it 1/2 times around fertile time. I would aim for day of peak LH test and day after if you can to make sure your optimising your chances. I wouldn't dismiss the syringe idea I have known people to do this when your TTC you do whatever works for you. The endometriosis might make it a little harder to fall so it might take a bit longer which is why you need to time it right. You might want to also get a sperm check some medications can interfere with sperm but there are plenty of natural things you can do to improve sperm quality of that is also an issue.

Have you had your feretin - b12 & vit D checked?
Has he had his sperm checked?

We concieved 2nd cycle trying - maybe just luck or maybe linked to me having improved feretin, corrected vit d deficiency , improved b12 etc...

Then had an early miscarriage
But i still feel lucky that we conceived so fast

Theres a book - it starts with an egg - highly recommend

If your other half would feel comfortable with it, have a look into home artificial insemination. You can use just any old syringe technically but I use a product called TwoPlus because my other half finds it hard to finish from sex, so it's the only way we can guarantee sperm at the right time of the month! I got pregnant from using the kits third month of using them, sadly ended in miscarriage but that's nothing to do with the conception method!

I'd say go to the doctor too as they can do some bloods etc to rule out anything that might be making it difficult for you to conceive.

Going to the GP for infertility isn’t just about lack of pregnancy but they can also help with referrals and IVF happens for people with an inability to have sex on either side. Definitely add in the home insemination when you can, as this works for same sex female couples/surrogacy/single people etc.

But go to the GP as clinics also deal with people unable to have sex and pregnant the normal way as well.
