Hyfosy panic

Rewindthefilm · 30/09/2023 08:14

I had a Hyfosy 12 days ago as part of my infertility investigations and definitely tested negative before the 9am appointment. I noticed my period was late this week and assumed the Hyfosy must have disrupted something and searches on the internet suggested this was actually common. However, yesterday I did a test and it said 2-3 weeks pregnant! So what do I do?? Obviously I wouldn’t have gone ahead with the Hyfosy if I’d had an inkling I was pregnant (TTC for over a year and in my late 30s), the clinician hadn’t noticed anything odd and I am now panicking that the test might have damaged something.

Epic timing 🙄

They normally only do this type of investigation in the first half of the cycle and tell people to not have sex, did they do this? Did you have sex in this cycle? What CD did you have it on?

CrispAppleStrudels · 30/09/2023 08:23

I think you are probably best getting in touch with your clinic / consultant secretary and asking for their advice. Im sure it wont be the first time this has happened so the Drs will be able to advise you on any potential issues / risks etc.

@Gardenlady543 Sorry, what is CD? Yes, they did say not to have unprotected sex so I didn’t. The appointment was made just under a month before the visit although the test was done in the second half of my cycle.

@CrispAppleStrudels I will, yes. Thank you. Just can’t believe the timing!

@Rewindthefilm cycle day, so when was the last time you had unprotected sex, you're saying you didn't have unprotected sex the cycle you had the investigation in?

Rewindthefilm · 30/09/2023 09:34

@Gardenlady543 ah ok, thanks. From the new cycle to the appointment (about 3 and a half weeks) it was protected. Obv been TTC so low stock of protection. May have been out of date but all in the bin and gone now- that’s all I can think has happened.

@Rewindthefilm unless you conceived right after the investigation? Your hcg could just be high for the timing. Can you get in with the gp for a blood hcg

@Gardenlady543 I think I will start by contacting the clinician on Monday as I have her email and see what she says. Keep trying to make sense of the calendar. Going to try not to panic but also not get excited either!
