First cycle TTC! Looking for tips please :)

Evening everyone,

DP and I have started TTC this cycle. I had a chemical pregnancy last cycle (weren't ttc but not avoiding), which has prompted us to properly start ttc now, rather than our original plan of starting this December.

I had another chemical pregnancy last year, but I was further along than last month and the bleeding and cramps were so much worse, and lasted ages. It messed up my cycle for months, so I started tracking ov to keep an eye on what my body was doing.

I'm in my fertile window now and have been tracking doing bbt and LH tests with the easy@home tests and logging on the Premium app; they do seem to be gradually rising but for some reason t/c says low when they look high.

I'm just looking for tips really, particularly about experiences of chemical pregnancies and then getting pregnant after that, and also the easy@home tests and the app. I keep reading so many different things and it's confusing me.

Thank you for reading :)

sorry that was supposed to say premom app, not premium. speaking of, for those who have paid for premium on that, is it worth it?

Hey lovely!

So I would defo start tracking your basal body temperature to check you are actually ovulating.

The LH strip tests aren't actually accurate if you are ovulating or not as sometimes you can have an LH surge but not ovulate. they are still good to use though along side BBT (basal body temp). Once the test line is darker than the control line then that means peak which means its likely you will ovulate in the next 24 hours or so.

Defo start taking vitamins/ folic acid

There's loads of videos on tiktok which were super helpful for me when starting TTC. we still haven't been successful and currently just a bit over a year in but that's completely normal so I'm not stressing too much ☺️ good luck and enjoy! fingers crossed for you it happens nice and quick xxx

Thank you so much for your reply :) I've been tracking my basal body temperature for the past couple of days, a bit too late into my cycle but better late than never I suppose! I've been taking pre conception vitamins for the past few months, in preparation to start ttc. I do feel like they've somehow regulated my hormones and cycles as well.

That's good to know about the ovulation tests, thank you.

If you do BBT do it vaginally its more accurate

Snugglemonkey · 29/09/2023 22:08

I honestly would scrap all the stuff. Just relax, have sex every couple of days and let things happen. Getting all wound up about it makes sex less fun and the stress is not good for conception.

oh that's really interesting, thank you for that info :) I've been doing it orally for the past couple of days, if I started doing it vaginally from tomorrow morning would it interfere with the results today and yesterday, or make them less accurate?

Ah thats great hun! keep at it, BBT has been so helpful for me. I came off the pill after 10 years being on it and my cycles have been all over the place and not the regular 28 days 😖 only just slowly getting back to normal so that's good you've noticed regular cycles on them xx

Stardust127 · 29/09/2023 22:19

ah yes I've read it's best to do bbt same time each day, I do it at 6am every morning before I get out of bed as that's the time I get up for work. Not pleased that I now have to wake up at 6am on weekends though 😂😩

Edited

Haha it is annoying but I take temp and write it down and go back to bed 🤣

That's good you can go back to sleep, I have no such luck 😅I've actually just remembered that last night I had a dream that I woke up to do bbt and fell back asleep with the themometer in my mouth, then woke up confused as to why it wasn't there, and then had to do actually do it.. it felt very real! I'm clearly thinking about it so much that it's creeping into my dreams! 😂

agree. As long as you have regular periods, your ovulation is pretty predictable just counting the days. Give it at least 6 months just having regular sex and not fixating on it. I’ve never heard of anyone I know in real life who starts with tests etc from when they start TTC. Save that all for later, if you need to

Hello! I had a chemical back in June, found out at 4 weeks and my lines never really progressed from there. Stated properly bleeding 4+5. Just found out I am pregnant again, 4 weeks today. I did track my ovulation using the clearblue ovulation sticks as I am so desperate to get pregnant, we also used preseed which I think helped. We had sex every day bar one day during the ovulation window. I’m sorry to hear about your chemicals, how far along were you? I am so anxious about having another one

Morning. Thank you, I'm so sorry for your losses too. It's so difficult isn't it. I don't actually know how far along I was, but not far. I didn't actually know I was having a chemical last year until I tested on the second day of bleeding and it was a faint positive, as weren't ttc. Although I did suspect, because I had a lot of symptoms leading up to that. I'd never been through anything like that before and it was so emotionally tough for us. This time I think I had literally just implanted then sadly lost it.

I'm so anxious too, especially now that we're properly trying and im tracking everything.

My ovulation tests on premom have gotten lighter this morning and I don't know why. Marked as low yesterday even though the T line was quite dark. I think maybe I ov'd in the middle of the day yesterday and missed it as I wasn't able to test...

Sorry for your losses too, as you say it’s so emotionally draining. Baby dance as much as you can! Is your cervical discharge looking like egg whites?

SPsmama · 30/09/2023 09:56

With the Premom app, don't just let it automatically pick up the test cos I find it sees the colours completely different to what they actually are. I edit it and match the colours up manually

Thank you so much. Last year was terrible because I was bleeding and cramping so much and we only found out as I was losing it.

We've been BD every day so that we don't miss it. I know this is way tmi, but I do feel comfortable talking about this stuff on MN, but I'm finding it difficult to tell the difference between CM and semen from the night before. Last night though I think there was quite a lot of EWCM when I checked.

This is really insightful information, thank you so much. I think it's possible that I would have reached my peak in the middle of the night last night. Just have to keep my fingers crossed I guess!

We BD every night for a week bar one night in my fertile window so carry on doing what you’re doing! Haha I know what you mean! Also, try and keep your hips up after to save it running out!
