Hiya,

Im not even sure If I am pregnant but am trying.

I had a tooth out Monday and its been hellish, im on ibuprofen & paracetamol every 4 hours and have been put on antibiotics today.

Im not saying I am pregnant but If I were could this be harmful?

No. I tok a course of metronizadol (strong anti-b's) plus paracetomol and it didn't cause a problem. You might want to steer clear of ibuprofen though.

I took paracetamol in early pregnancy as I was told it was ok. I also took ibuprofen by accident (I though I was having period pains but was pregnant)

Paracetamol is fine. Ibuprofen is not recommended as it can cause bleeding. Antibiotics vary - check with your pharmacist or gp, there are plenty that can be safely used in pg.
hth.

sorry took a course... - I didn't know I was PG then though, I wouldn't have been given them if I was.

However I was given amoxicillin when PG (at about 15 weeks) and that was OK so I presume that's an OK one to take whilst PG.

sO I SHOULD JUST TAKE PARACETAMOL AND DROP THE IBUPROFEN?

Ooops caps sorry!

Pennies thats theone ive been given! metronizadol 400mg

I dont really want to ask for different ones because this is my 2nd type - the first had penacillin in which im allergic to (or was told by my mum 3 days into a course of 7!)

You should tell them you might be PG in that case I think. I'm not a GP or pharmacist but I think it's not ideal for PG. I could be wrong and keep taking them for tonight but call them first thing and tell them so they can tell you the best option for you.

Pennies · 05/03/2008 20:18

Yes to paracetomol nd not to Ibuprofen (inc. Nurofen and the like)

kayzisbroody · 05/03/2008 20:19

Yeah drop the Ibuprofen just incase you are pg.

I hope you are!!

Disenchanted · 05/03/2008 20:26

Thankyou

No more ibuprofen,

its only a 3 day course so I think Ill just go with the antibiotics, Im not even due my period for 10 days, but have a few niggles!

Thanks Kay

Im afraid to say I cant stop taking the ibuprofen

I tried to just take the paracetamol alone lastnight and I was in agony.

I talked to DH and he said its daft putting myself through pain when i dont even know if I am pregnant and wont know for well over a week.

I just hope if I am then it will be ok.

I dont think it would do any harm.. I took it until 10 weeks with steroids and antibiotics had no idea I was pregnant, my Gp told me not to worry Junkies take worse in pregnancy and have perfectly healthy babies! Good luck with the testing!

I think - please someone jump in and correct me if not - that codeine is better than ibuprofen and does actually work. Paracetamol do nothing for me either. Though I think during the very early days you are probably fine anyway.
