Apologies posted this on wrong place before
Hi all
first post. I’m 43 . Been trying a year had a miscarriage at 8 weeks in June. Took 9 weeks for AF to return in between that had a faint positive which looking back now may have been chemical.
had another faint line this month on normal test followed by a negative on digital 2 days later. Waited 5 days then had negative on normal test. By then was 6 days late. AF has now started 8 days late.
looking for some inspiration from anyone who has gone through same. Hubby doesn’t know what to say to me. Feeling like time is running out fast.
Thanks

Hi, I just wanted to say I'm sorry for your loss, it's such a sad but also frustrating thing but even more so when you feel you are shorter on time.

I don't have any inspiration but hopefully my comment bumps your post. Wishing you all the best x

Really sorry for your loss. My Fertility consultant told me that at my age (40) about three in every four eggs if not more will result in genetically abnormal embryos. If you then think not every egg fertilises the numbers are low. It's sadly a numbers game and you have to keep going. If you did IVF you could have them tested.

For context I had 9 eggs. 8 mature. 7 fertilised. Two made it to embryos. One went in and didn't take and one was tested abnormal.

Hope you have good luck.

@Oldandtrying23 hi, so sorry to read what you are going through!
I am in a similar boat unfortunately, currently 41, since 40 had 4 chemicals, all gone by 5+ weeks. Tests are super good like for 33-35 year old..but quality is an issue. Did my first ivf cycle in August, sent 4 good embryos for genetic testing- all abnormal, which explains the losses 😞 Planning to do another one and then to decide, as they advise a few for our age. IVF is very emotionally difficult, financially too, we might look into donor egg option, even though I have 2 kids (1 with my husband)

Wishing you all the strength to find that one golden egg xx

@Oldandtrying23 forgot to mention that I read about good results after taking lots of supplements, from It starts with an egg book. I was on QO10 before, but now added lots if more last 2 months, so hopefully before second ivf cycle quality can improve. I am feeling also great on them, improved sleep and mood etc. so they won't hurt

To be honest, your chances are very slim at this stage, and I say that with all sympathy because I have been there, ttc without success into my 40s. My consultant thought perhaps one embryo in 12 might be normal when I was 41(ish), and then of course you have timing issues etc around making sure sperm meets egg.

If you really want to carry a baby and you are ok with the ethics of donation I'd go straight to IVF with donor eggs.

Oldandtrying23 · 28/09/2023 17:22

What are you taking if you don’t mind me asking ?

Thank you I know it’s slim. I don’t want to start IVF at my age as it’s mentally exhausting and financially draining . We are only now both out of debt . It’s just my luck that didn’t want them before now I do and looks like I can’t 😩

You could try brazil nuts. I have no idea if they work but the month I conceived (over 40 years old) which resulted in the baby I currently breastfeeding I ate them. Good luck.

Bleepbloopbluurp · 28/09/2023 18:55

Ah, I see. Well, in terms of supplements as well as the "normal" ones (vitamins C, D, B6, B12, E, folic acid, zinc, iron, magnesium and selenium (which is in brazil nuts)) you could take coenzyme Q10, PABA and n-acetylcysteine (Aka NAC). No caffeine.

For him, Maca, something with plenty of vitamin C and zinc plus vitamin D and no caffeine or alcohol.

You'll be rattling but it's probably worth a try. Best of luck.

TT82 · 28/09/2023 19:58

I take also melatonin (sleep quality extremely important), NAC, QO10 high dose, Omega high dose, vit C high dose, vit E and D high dose, sane for B complex (not just folic), then ovum complex on top. Brazil nuts, protein with every meal, lits of green veggies.
But again, so far cannot say it gives or will give result, but it won't hurt, I am feeling really good on them. Also have this feeling- I am doing something, not just waiting..
Good luck and hoping you do find that good egg ❤️

Oldandtrying23 · 05/10/2023 11:56

Thanks taken your advice. Re the Brazil nuts got a load more vitamins, can’t hurt even if it just makes me feel better!
if I get no joy this month will ask to be referred properly. Would rather know.

Try Coq-10

HBZ287 · 05/10/2023 12:40

Should have said - only one or two Brazil nuts as more than that can actually be toxic! I think it possibly made the difference for me as it may have helped thicken my womb lining.

Oldandtrying23 · 05/10/2023 15:24

Have ordered it! Try it all 😊
