Pineapple theory

Do we all know the theory that eating pineapple (especially the core) helps implantation, because it has high levels of bromelain.

Just wondering how seriously you take it?

I have three experiences of an embryo definitely being there to implant. One became my naturally conceived daughter (pineapple was eaten at the crucial time), one was an ivf embryo which did implant and then soon after was miscarried (pineapple was also eaten) and another ivf embryo which didn't implant (had forgotten to buy pineapple that time so didn't have it).

So in my very limited experience that could be completely coincidental, it does seem to help. Does anyone else have more anecdotal evidence either way?

Typed as I chop my pineapple hopefully, ahead of embryo transfer tomorrow....

Interesting! I'd only heard of pineapple possibly bringing on miscarriages /early labour due to bromelain because it softens your cervix. However my understanding is that unless you eat kilos of the stuff, it's unlikely to be a real concern. It certainly didn't stop me eating pineapple in my first pregnancy!

The vast majority of very early mc and failed implantation are due to chromosomal abnormalities (50+% of fertilsed eggs fail), so pineapple consumption would have absolutely no impact either way.

In a small number of cases, where there may be issues implanting but no issues with the blastocyst, it may help with implantation, but there's absolutely no way to know if implantation would have occurred anyway or if the pineapple helped.

It can't hurt though, so quite a few people choose to do it.

I'm not a big fan of pineapple personally, so I didn't. I didn't really do anything different, not even keep my always cold feet warm, on the cycle I caught. I also drank alcohol through the tww, took ibuprofen for headaches and drank lots of coffee.

I'm of the personal opinion that unless you know of an issue, or really need to feel a bit more in control to reduce stress, anything you do will likely have very little to no impact, so I just went about my normal business during all my tww. I appreciate others wanting to do anything they can to help though, and that's just as valid, it's personal preference really.

As for does pineapple help with implantation, maybe it does, maybe it makes no difference, but it can help women feel a bit more in control of ttc and their bodies so it's a good thing either way.

Caught on cycle 5, 9+3 now.
