Possible positive after miscarriage?

Hi, I am new to this and seeking advice if possible. A bit of background, I had a miscarriage on the 1st of September at 9 weeks 6 days. I took a test on the 9th which had a faint positive. I then took a test on the 13th which was negative and another on the 20th which was also negative. This morning I have taken a test as I had mucus like discharge (TMI sorry), mood swings and tender breasts. I decided to test as all my symptoms had gone by the 9th of September so felt it was unusual that I was having symptoms. The test has a very faint line. Please let me know if you can also see this. Hopefully the images are clear, it’s hard to capture a photo of such a faint line. I’m worried this may be left over hormones and don’t want to get my hopes up. I plan to test again in a few days but was wondering if anyone else had experienced this? Thanks 😊

Hcg can stay in your system for 1 - 9 weeks

Sorry to hear abour your loss
Did u get a negative preg test after your loss ?

My lines on cb were light when i miscarried - when they had been dark b4

Well, I got pregnant the first month after a miscarriage.
Since you've had negative tests, it seems likely that this is a new BFP.
Obviously the only way to tell is to see if the lines get darker.
Good luck!

Hi @Autumn02 sorry for your loss. In my experience the hcg remained in my system for over 6 weeks after my MMC in March but this might not be the case for you. I think the only way to know is to work out dates, ie did you ovulate following mc and if so did you have sex around that time. If so keep testing and hopefully it gets darker. Fingers crossed for you 🤞

I have had two negatives since my miscarriage. Both a week apart.

I'm going to keep testing and hope they get darker.

I’m sorry to hear about your loss also. I believe I did ovulate as I had some of the same symptoms I normally have around ovulation. However I have PCOS so it can be difficult to determine. I am hopeful that I have ovulated and have been trying since receiving a negative test result. I will keep testing. Thank you for your help 😊

If you've had negatives since your mc then if these are positive, it's a new pregnancy.

The lines are super faint, so faint it's hard to know if they're true positives or indents/evaps, so unfortunately the only way to be sure is to test again in 2 days.

I'd recommend a boots early detection tests over clearblue and frer, as both are known for indents/evaps. Frer is discontinued in UK stores and the ones on amazon are likely to be fakes and clearblue is just a joke really (so many evaps).

Have you tested again, OP?

Hi all, I have and I’m still getting faint lines. Contacted my gp who’s referred me to the EPU. Going for a blood test today and will go from there.

Just got my result back which is a HCG of 3 so unfortunately not pregnant and likely was just the end of the miscarriage

I'm sorry about that, OP.
You must be disappointed.

Hi all. Another update I’ve done some tests today as I was have been feeling overly tired and just not myself. Took a boots test and easy at home test and got these second lines. Have contacted my doctor. Don’t want to get my hopes up incase it’s still left over hormones, but it’s looking promising 🤞🏻

@Autumn02 Aww there're clear lines. I'd imagine the old hcg would be well gone at this stage so fingers crossed for you and tentative congratulations x

TheShellBeach · 18/10/2023 14:05

Those lines do look promising - I hope things work out this time for you.
