Implantation? Chemical? Ectopic? ???

Hi All,

So my backstory is that I have a history of ectopic pregnancies (I’ve had 2 on right tube - now removed, & 1 on the left although since then I’ve had my DS & a most recently a miscarriage from that side).

I’m not entirely sure when I ovulated but my husband & I only DTD on 28-08, 29-08 & 03-09.

I’ve been having “symptoms” for a couple of weeks (headache, moodiness so nothing conclusive) but on Monday evening 18-09 I started spotting dark brown discharge. This picked up slightly but never changed colour (almost looked like tar (so not watery / prune juice like) in the liner) & remained very very light (more heavy ish discharge than bleeding) for a day before tailing off by the end of the 2nd day.

At the same time I was having a burning pinching type sensation on my left side - I’ve had this before in the exact same place on the left side but with my previous ectopic on the right side so I don’t necessarily think it’s ectopic related but who knows this time it could be.

Around the same time I also started to get cramping / pulling in my back (still have it now a week later) which I only get when I’m pregnant, ectopic or otherwise.

I’ve been testing using cheapies since 18-09 & all have been BFN apart from one v v v faint BFP FRER on Thursday (21-09) but then I realised the test expired in June 23 so probably doesn’t count 🙈.

Tested this afternoon using another FRER (held pee for almost 4hrs) & was negative.

I just don’t see how this could be a viable pregnancy with all of the above. I know potentially the discharge could be implantation bleeding if I ovulated on 07-09 or 08-09 but surely I would have BFP by now 3 days after discharge stopped??

Any insight or experience would be most grateful & sorry for the essay 🙈🙈

How early are you testing? Dark discharge is old blood which can usually happen at the start or end of a period. TMI but I’ve had periods that have sadly just been that for a couple of days.

If all tests say negative so far then I’d hold off testing a for 2 days then try again.

Can you ask for a scan given your ectopic history?
I had an ectopic (lost a tube) and can have an early scan in all future pregnancies. Xx

@Hiddenvoice I’d say tonight I’m 17dpo at the very least.

I’ve had periods similar as mine are always really light but there is always some red blood & a bit of a flow whereas this time there wasn’t.

With the last ectopic I had in April, I experienced something like this mid March, then went on to have a full on period mid April only to test positive on the last day of my period. I then had my tube removed on 25th April so I’m worried history is repeating itself 😣🙈.

Like you said I’ll give it a few days & test on Wednesday.

@witmum yes I can go for an early scan but from experience I know they won’t scan me without a BFP plus I know they’ll be nothing to see if my levels are below 1000 anyway.

It’s just so frustrating because all three of my ectopics have taken a couple of months to materialise if that makes sense & being in the limbo of “am I even pregnant / is it ectopic” is awful.

Plus symptom spotting is annoying but I know I need to pay attention to them because of how dangerous ectopics can be.

Not to mention the fear of losing my last tube & therefore my ability to conceive naturally again 😭😭😭.
