So unfun. So much pressure, worry. Symptom spotting- I was convinced I had everything, sore boobs, food aversions, cramping, heartburn- and I must have been imagining it! And I’m only on month 2!

any tips to make it actually fun?

I enjoy making the lh charts on the premom app?

But agreed that the tww is Not Fun. I’m just going into the next tww and trying to think of some strategies to not be distractedly symptom spotting from about 6dpo, but drawing a blank.

If it doesn't happen quickly it's horrific. Sorry you're in this place. The pressure is horrible and really puts you off.

It's only now that my youngest is 3 that my sex drive has finally returned and it feels fun again.

I enjoyed all the sexy time..I'm not enjoying the tww..I didn't find out til 7 weeks with my first so don't think I had any symptoms til much later so no sypmtom spotting for me

It shouldn't be so Not Fun in month 2!

Where is the pressure and worry coming from?
Are your periods pretty regular?
Any reason why you can't just have plenty of sex and then, if you miss your period, take a pregnancy test?

Puppyseahorse · 19/09/2023 17:30

@Whataretheodds my age, really, I’m over 35 so every month feels like ‘this could be the last chance’, if you know what I mean.

periods are regular. For some reason, for everybody I know, it’s either happened on cycle 1 or it’s taken years of IVF. I don’t seem to know anybody who’s fallen in between.

I'm 42. Cut yourself some slack. Zita West is pretty good on this.

Statistically it's likely to take several months. But if it happens more quickly every month could be the last that you get to have sex in the kitchen in the middle of the day, to make a spontaneous decision to go to a gig that night, to go out for dinner, etc.

Focus on having fun. Ditch the charts. If you're looking after yourselves and have plenty of sex during the relevant period you'll be fine. Beeping thermometers and dozens of OPKs just add to the stress.

And definitely don't test early.

@Puppyseahorse if it helps I'm super regular, 34 years old and both this pregnancy and my daughter took 4 months and we did all the timings etc :) it's a bit of a monthly lottery! I think the chance of it happening every month is about 20%, so it's going to be around 5 months for a lot of people. Good luck! X

Yup, sex got seriously boring very quickly. Friday night…oh god not this again. Never really recovered much interest.

Olika · 19/09/2023 18:53

Started influencing us enjoying being intimate so I somehow managed to stop concentrating on TTC so much and went back to listening to my body and seducing my DH because I felt so. Made sex more enjoyable again and brought back that closeness we used to have.

Lemonpledge · 19/09/2023 18:59

The best way to enjoy it is to stop thinking about TTC and instead just enjoy your usual sex life without using contraception. Why add all the pressure and stress??
