Hi, I have heard that some people get pregnant sooner with there second child, I don't know if there is any good reason / facts behind this one? I have just come off the pill to try for number 2 and it took me a year to get caught the first time, i'd like to think it wouldn't take the same again, but who knows...

3 weeks! That's why I've got a 19 month gap. My GP told me it could take a year so I got a bit of a shock to say the least. Good luck.

With my first born, I stopped the pill in December, had a period in January and fell pregnant in February (daughter born November - she is now 15). With my second, I stopped the pill in August and it took me until the following May (9 months) to fall pregannt (son born February - now just turned 11). With my third, after having a coil fitted, I had the coil removed in January, no period and my youngest daughter was born October (now just turned 6).

They call it 'family planning' but my plans didn't happen the way I thought they would. First pregnancy happened straight away, second took me longer than expected, third straight away (but it could be that I fall pregnant with girls quicker than boys).

so kate, that's you getting pregnant when your first was about 10 months? How you finding it? And what sexes do you have? My neighbour, did pretty much 9 on and 9 off for 3 kids and it worked well for her.

It took me about 3 weeks as well - same as Kate - my gap is 19 months too! Have got 2 boys, now 3 and 18 months and it's very manic - but fun (most of the time!)- they're inseperable and i think that's to do with being so close in age. Ds1 took 6 months to coceive so was assuming dc2 would be about the same - infact it only took 1 go!!

Hi af

19 month gap was fine although had two in nappies for the first year, It actually gets harder as they get older as they are very competitive and only one year apart at school. Younger one wants everything at the same time as her sister. dd3 is 3.2 younger than dd2 (and was conceived while I was still on the pill ) so I had three under 5 at one point! They can squabble for England sometimes but I know that they do love each other really.

I got pregnant 17 days after coming off the pill! But then I fell very quickly first time too. Nearly everyone I know has fallen pregnant with their second first time of trying, me included. good luck.
