Hi guys, I’ve made a post but had no response so am making another one in the hope one of you see this! I’ve bought soy ivo on Amazon from a company called healthspan. The problem is I can now see that they contain 100mg soy and 40 mg isoflavones so how much would I take based on these measurements? I started yesterday day 2 of cycle without realising and took one tablet and today is day 3… really need help as I’ve already started this cycle now :/ I’ve added an image thank you

What are soy isoflavones for?

TTCbaby1soph · 16/09/2023 16:42

They are dubbed natures Clomid so help both by helping woman who don’t ovulate to actually ovulate or bringing ovulation forward for woman with longer cycles and also depending on what days you take it in cycle will strengthen egg maturity / quality and also could make u produce more eggs at ovulation time - hope it all makes sense it does in my head 😂

How this from another post explains much better lol
Soya Isoflavones are derived from soya beans. They have been dubbed “the natural Clomid,”
As they work in pretty much an identical manner.
Just like Clomid; Soya Isoflavones work by tricking your body into thinking its low on oestrogen. Your body then kick starts production of FSH (Follicle-stimulating hormone) followed by LH (Luteinizing hormone) Which are both necessary to release Healthy Eggs during ovulation.
FSH is released at the start of the menstrual cycle; it stimulates the growth of an immature egg into a fully matured egg. When the egg has matured your body then releases a surge of LH. LH is the hormone that tells the ovary to release the egg.

WHEN?
You take Soy Isoflavones, like Clomid, on either CD 1-5 , 2-6, 3-7 , 4-8 or 5-9.
If you take soy Isoflavones during the later time bracket, for example CD5-9, you shall strengthen the egg that has already started growing producing a healthier egg. The earlier in your cycle you take It, the higher your chance of releasing multiple eggs but these eggs will not be as mature as the eggs grown from taking Soya later.
A lot of women will choose the middle cycle (3 -7) allowing time for a strong and healthy egg to develop without erasing the chance of a second egg being developed and released.

1-5 = you produce more eggs, and ovulate sooner, with a stronger ovulation.

2-6 = you produce more eggs that usual, but not as many as taking it 1-5. Eggs may be more mature, and ovulation will be slightly more strong than 1-5.

3-7 = The best of both worlds, a few more eggs, and all eggs will be strong & mature, and ovulation will be alot stronger than 1-5.

4-8 = No more eggs will be produced, but the ones already there, will be matured alot more than usual, and ovulation will be very strong. Ovulation may only be brought forward a teeny bit.

5-9 = You'll have one very mature strong egg, from the ones you already produced on your own. Ovulation will either happen when it usually does, or a few days later, but your egg will be of great quality.

DOSE?
The dose is really down to you but you should always use the lowest amount that works for you.
With Clomid the starting dose is 100mg. Soya Isoflavones are said to be half the strength of Clomid, so it makes sense for the starting dose to be 100mg.
The trouble with 100mg of soya is that the capsules tend to come as 40mg. So you have a choice of starting at 80mg.
Some women change the dose on different days. So they may start at 120mg for the first 3 days then give an extra boost for the last 2 days with 160mg.

As I have said though, use the lowest dose possible for yourself. If you ovulate using 120mg/day stick to that for a few cycles. GIVE IT A CHANCE. It is said that it takes 3months to get the full benefits of what you are taking. NEVER EXCEED 200mg/day.

OTHER BENEFITS?
The following potential health benefits are attributed to Isoflavones:
Reduce heart disease risk
Protect against prostate problems
improve bone health
Reduce cancer risk

SIDE EFFECTS?
As with any medication, taking Soya Isoflavones may cause side effects such as:
Nausea
Headaches
Dizziness
Hot flushes
Night sweats
Cramping
Diarrhoea
Lack of fertile cm
Thrush
Obviously the higher the dose you take the higher your chance of experiencing side e

Hiya! I am on my third month of taking these and I wanted to share my experience.
I took a very low dose previously and saw a massive difference in my OKP. I will upload the two pics. The second pic was last months ovulation and although I am not pregnant I have never ever had an OKP that has shown positive and this was blazing positive. I am on month 8 of ttc and this month I am going with 2-6 of soy at a dose that increases over those days. I only took one which was equivalent to 40mg and then 2 for the last 2 days only reaching 80. I will keep you updated on OKP xx
good luck to you all xx

Oh wow @elle18310 thats looking good! How long are your cycles normally?! That’s really encouraging. I’m a bit worried it could mess up my cycle as I do ovulate I think (based on OPKs) but have never temped and have been TTC for years with no success and no explanation apart from potentially low pregosterone (I’ve had all the tests, bloods, hycosy etc)
I do have regular cycles but at this point I am willing to try anything. I was previously married for 5 years with no success although we weren’t actively TTC like I am now - with my new partner has been 1 year TTC and nothing, never been pregnant.
thank you for your reply! I took 40 day 2 as a mistake as I wasn’t sure of the dosage and then day 3 and 4 have taken 160 - was planning to take 200 for last 2 days but now I’m thinking I might take u until day 7 as day 2 was such a low dose ??

So my cycles are pretty regular, around 28 days ish. It hasn't messed them up for the past 2 months of taking them? I figured it was worth a go! I will definitely keep you posted, best of luck on your TTC journey xx

How did you get on last cycle and blood test? X

OP posts:
elle18310 · 29/10/2023 21:25

Hiya @TTCbaby1soph ! Hope you’re well? So the past two months I have had a positive test very early on that has later resulted in a period so feeling very deflated. FSH levels were slightly elevated on the first month I had them so dr repeated them this month and they’re normal so that’s good! Sorry nothing more positive to report. Having a break from the soy and the OKP’s this month. We had a family holiday to turkey so managed to relax a bit and not be quite so obsessed. Hope all is well your end xx
