CD 74 - 38 Days Late

As you can see by the title I haven't had a period in a long while. I'm 28, and have regular periods, roughly a 32-35 day cycle then a bleed lasting 2 to 3 days.

●My last period was 1st July for 2 days
●August period that never came was meant to be 6th-8/9th
●September period that hasn't come was meant to start yesterday.

I took a test around 10-14 days after my period was late in August and got two clear as anything negative tests so assumed i was just having a bit of a blip in my cycle and it would return as normal this month but it still hasn't and I'm a bit unsure as to what to do.

I don't have symptoms as such, other than feeling and looking very bloated and the past week or so my appetite has just been very up and down, one day I could eat everything and the next I will barely want one meal.

Any help? Has anybody experienced this before and if so what was your outcome? 😭😭

Definitely worth seeing your GP. Maybe they could do a blood test / scan?

I contacted my GP and they said I shouldn't be worried and if my period still hasn't come in 6 weeks time then to contact them again 🙄

When my period is very late it’s often because my body didn’t ovulate so I end up ‘skipping’ a cycle. So my cycle is 40/50 days. Sometimes I skip two ovulations in a row and have some sort of spotting but not a real period.

my periods are very irregular, I’ve had all the tests, there’s no obvious cause.

periods can become irregular for all sorts of reasons, illness, stress, peri menopause etc. or just because! most women have a late or missed period at some point in their lives.

keep tracking your periods, you can your bbt to check whether your ovulating.

go back to gp and get tests if they continue to be irregular.

@Verymodestmouse

Oh wow thank you for your comment, that sounds exactly like my situation now....

I had random spotting about 2 and a half weeks ago which I thought would turn into my period but never did and now I'm 3 day's late for this period and very random extremely light spotting has started again.

I track my periods using an app anyway so will just keep seeing what happens and hopefully everything is okay.

You're not ovulating. There could be different reasons:

  1. You're not producing enough progesterone.
  2. You're not eating enough calories.
  3. You're exercising too much.
  4. Too much stress
  5. PCOS

Or thyroid issues. I got diagnosed with hypothyroidism when I experienced a loopy 146 day cycle when starting to TTC my first. Once I started on the Levothyroxine my cycles became a lot more regular and I haven't had crazy cycles since.
