am a mumsnet virgin so be gentle with me!
Had a scan today that confirmed an early total miscarriage- boo.

Keen to try again asap and have been advised to avoid sex for the next 1 week adn then not get pregnant for at least 1 cycle. Is this just because of dates? Am I safe to try straight away?
Feeling very confused and sad.

any advice appreciated.

hi and welcome sorry that ur having to deal with this they do ask for you to wait a month or until you get a normal cycle which is just to help them with dates. i do know how horrible you are feeling right now as i have suffered 3 miscarriages,

welcome to mumsnet. And sorry to hear about your miscarriage.

If the miscarriage was complete, and early , with no complications, I don't see why you have to wait, once all the bleeding has stopped. You may want to wait to give yourself time to grieve for what you have lost.

There are a few of us who hae become pregnant immediately after miscarriage. I became pregnant two weeks after a miscarriage at 6 weeks.

Hello

I've recently had a mmc and had to have an erpc.. i was given no advice whatsoever about resuming activities in the bedroom so we waiting a week and started TTC again. its been fine

The Nurse told me they only ask you to wait for a cycle so any new pregnany's easy to date and that unless yor bodys ready for pregnancy it wont get pregnant.

apparently your mega fertile after MC so if your anything like me you'll be wating to make the most of it !

Sorry for your loss but good luck TTC x

It's not just for the dates that they recommend to wait 1 cycle.Just think yourself, your womb has just suffered and bled so it needs time to heal. I always waited 2 cycles. My doc said it was to heal on every level as well as the lining of the womb to thicken again(gets very thin after miscarriage),that way the womb would be more ready to sustain a healthy pregnancy!

Hi Buckles,

Like you, I found out last week that I had an early total miscarriage and am keen to start TTC again as soon as possible. The consultant didn't say anything about waiting a week before having sex again but did say to wait one cycle before trying again, so I specifically asked him if there was an increased risk of another miscarriage if I got pregnant again before that.

He said no - it is just easier to date the pregnancy if you know your cycles and anyway - our bodies will only conceive again if they are ready to.

Think it was good advice and, like many others on this thread, intend to try again ASAP.
