Hello lovely ladies,

I just wanted to get some of your stories or advice really, as my GP is being extremely unhelpful.

I have 2 beautiful girls, aged 2 and 3. We have been trying for baby number 3 since March this year. I have however experienced 2 losses. A chemical pregnancy in may, and a missed miscarriage in July.

These have left our hearts absolutely shattered. I am so determined to have a healthy pregnancy and baby, but ofcourse am nervous to be pregnant again.

I know that things have changed and that you can request progesterone now after 1 loss. (I did ask for it this time round but my docter refused, sent me for blood tests but booked me in for 6 weeks time so I would have been 10 weeks pregnant, the baby had already died at this point)

I have read that progesterone is good for ladies that have experienced recurrent losses and for those who bleed when pregnant (I have been pregnant 4 times and had bleeding every time) but just wondered whether I could ask my GP for some testing? If that is even a thing? I'm basically completely clueless but just want to do everything I possibly can to give my next pregnancy the best possible chance.
Anyone else experienced similar? What did you do (if anything!)

I'm sorry for your losses. As you've had 2 you can ask your GP for blood tests to rule out any direct causes. As you've had 2 children you might have to fight a littler harder for these as some GPs assume because you've had a successful pregnancy there can't be anything underlying causing them and it's just unlucky.

I just had a heap of bloods done after my second missed miscarriage, and my day 21 progesterone came back pretty low so I've got a follow up appointment tomorrow to see if I need a prescription to take post ovulation. Otherwise, you can ask for a progesterone prescription from your EPU after you get a BFP next time (my issue is partially not getting pregnant easily and partially losses).

In short, yes you should be able to get some blood tests for things like thyroid function which are causes of miscarriage.

@moosey89 thank you so much for your message, this has really really helped!
My tests are still positive after my d&c a couple of weeks ago, so once they are negative I'll ask my gp for some tests.

I wish you all the best lovely, it's a horrible journey to be on❤️

Hi @Sparkly12 First of all, I'm really sorry for your losses, it's so disappointing and sad isn't it. I have 2dc and in trying for our 3rd have just had a second miscarriage, first in December at 9 weeks (but baby died at 8) and now this one at 11+4 but baby died at 8-9 weeks. So the epu this time have put me on a list for testing and investigations that they do (they said will be 6 week wait) and also epu gave me an undated script for progesterone pessaries to get from GP to take from conception to 16 weeks if we fall pregnant in future.

I'm 35 so I'm not sure if this was done because of my age or if you could request the same from your local epu? I feel like after 2 they should be doing something for you

On top of this I phoned the GP myself and requested any general bloods to be done (they tested general bloods, b12, iron, thyroid etc) so if you ring your GP you should be able to request the same.

I hope this is helpful x

@Ladyinpink1
Thank you so much. It really is just so awful isn't it. I feel like I'm grieving for my babies still 😢 I'm so sorry you know the pain and sadness.
I'm so glad that your docters and epu have been so helpful and are actually doing something for you! I really hope that your tests went okay🤍
I'm definitely going to ask my GP for some tests, as soon as I get a negative test (tests still slightly positive after my d&c 2 weeks ago)
Thank you so much for all of your help🤍
