Tattoo while TTC

I’ve been wanting to get a little tattoo for a while but haven’t yet as I’ve been breastfeeding. LO recently weaned but we’ve also been TTC for a while and are about to start looking into possible IVF. My question really is how long before getting pregnant is it safe to get a tattoo? For example, if we skipped TTC for 1 month while we get ourselves ready to start our IVF journey, would that be safe? Or would I need a longer wait? I can only find info on getting tattoos whilst pregnant and how long after pregnancy you should wait.

I got a tattoo a few months ago and have been TTC for just under a year. I looked into it also and you shouldn't get one when actually pregnant, but should be fine whilst TTC. Just make sure to keep it as clean as possible and you should be fine, no different from when not TTC as far as I can tell.

My husband is a tattoo artist. There’s no definitive guidelines around this, it’s a solid no when pregnant for obvious reasons around risk of infection/no tests done on the ink around pregnancy but even following pregnancy there’s no golden time frame! (Unless bf) Hormones etc can make tattoos and the healing process slower or more painful… But tattoo ink is not toxic to an egg that is not yet fertilised. You should be fine.

I personally would just go for it, you’re not pregnant yet, there’s no reason not to.
