Chemical pregnancy?

Does anyone have any experience with chemical pregnancies?

I had a positive pregnancy test last week but then started having brown bleeding with some clots. The bleeding got slightly heavier, more like a very light period. The tests were faint so I was 99% sure I was having a chemical pregnancy.
It's now been a week since I first tested and now the bleeding is just brown spotting but I feel like the tests are getting darker (bottom test is most recent and yes I have pee'd on too many tests 😅). Can the test lines still get darker with a chemical pregnancy?
I know it's unlikely I'm still pregnant but I just want to be sure so I can move on...

I would go your gp and see if they could either get bloods done or a scan from the epu just so your not guessing what's happened or happening could possibly be still a pregnancy. That is a strong positive at the bottem! Just confusing with the few in the middle being so faint! How many weeks are you? Xx

I agree, I'd be going to the doctor with that for a blood test. I've got my fingers crossed for you! xxx

I had what I thought was a full blown period after a faint positive and then my tests got darker - my LO is now 21 months old! Turns out I had two sacs but only one with a baby when I went for my early scan and had a vanishing twin x

Quick update: I spoke to the EPU on the phone today and they said it's likely an early miscarriage and to test again in 10 days to confirm

Aww I'm sorry to hear that! If you have any more bleeding or pains and still positives I would ring them back up. Xx

I thought I would update this thread in case anyone stumbles across it in the same position in the future.

I went to the EPU today for a scan as I was really concerned it was an ectopic pregnancy but it is definitely intrauterine and there is a gestational sac and yolk sac. I'm back again in 2 weeks to check that the little bean has grown. Hopefully it's a sticky one!

Congratulations! Fingers crossed for a sticky bean

Hey @ErrolFinn hoping that this was a good outcome and you are progressing with your pregnancy.
I'm in a similar position with light positives and now bleeding. Really unsure what to do!

TW: past loss and potential chemical pregnancy

Hello,

I've been trying to conceive after a devastating loss in October (anembryonic pregnancy).

On Sunday evening (about 10dpo) I got a positive result on a clearblue that said 1-2 weeks. I'd also had some quite faint positives on some pregnancy sticks.

I felt some unusual cramping and twinges low down yesterday. Last night I got a "not pregnant" and no lines consistently across 3 different brand tests.

This morning there is the faintest second line on a test stick.

I am cycle day 27 and only due to start my period today. Today would be 13dpo. I know I am early. My anxiety following my miscarriage is difficult to manage.

Could this be a chemical pregnancy? Is it normal for low levels of HCG to fluctuate so much so early?

Any info would be really helpful.

Thank you
