First fertility appointment

Hello!

We have our first fertility appointment in a few weeks time and I was just wondering if people could share their experiences so I have an idea around what to expect…

I was wondering things such as:

  • were potential treatment options discussed during this appointment?
  • how soon after your appointment we’re you seen for IVF or the recommended treatment?

I appreciate the situation will be different across the country but would rather have some insight than going into it blind.

thanks so much in advance xx

Hi @Yolo23, how did your appointment go?

I’ve just been told my first appointment will be in January and I’m wondering the same as you.

My first appointment after initial tests done with GPs was July this year, advised due to OH low sperm count to do a repeat test, no change and follow up appointment was beginning of October, confirmed we will be referred for IVF. We received a letter about 10 days later that to advice our GP surgery to do our referral meaning funding had been accepted. GP's didn't have a clue what they were doing so still chasing them now and spent the last 3 weeks going back and forth, very frustrating this is out of our control!

I believe if there is no male factor infertility they will do a hycosy for tubes then try medicating with clomid or something similar!

Hope that helps!

That’s great, thank you @waitingforourmiracle ! You must be so frustrated, I hate having no control over things.

My partners sample has come back absolutely fine, so I know it’s me. I believe I have PCOS but my GP has not officially diagnosed this and referred me on. I’ve had 1 period since having my implant removed 2 years ago and never had a positive ovulation test, so I really hope clomid/letrozole etc is an option and solution!

Hi rainbow, might also be worth asking your gp for an fsh test as one period may also I did are low egg count. Could be lots of things but so you know the best way to proceed!
