TTC and smear test

I've been meaning to get a smear test for over a year but have been variously TTC, pregnant, or recovering from D&C (twice) this last year.

Now period has just started again so I feel like I should really get this test done. When is the best time to do it during my cycle to not affect chances of conceiving this month?

You have to get the smear after your period. Just book it asap.

Just phone and ask for the soonest app. I waited 7 weeks for mine and that's totally abnormal. We used to be able to access them quickly within with week at my surgery and the wait now is enormous

Ideally just after your period finishes and before ovulation, so around days 7-10 depending on your cycle. I would avoid going after ovulation as they don't usually want to do them if there's a chance of pregnancy.

I was technically pregnant but didn’t know yet, was a week into the tww. Annoyingly my result came back needing a colposcopy so had to have two to monitor cells while pregnant and wait until after baby arrived for treatment. we had been trying a few months so fully assumed I wouldn’t be pregnant again

Thanks all. Should have mentioned I'm not in UK, I can walk in and get one privately so I can easily do it on a day if my choosing.

Problem with waiting for end of period is I often keep spotting for 3-4 days after so it's hard to know precisely when it's over and I guess blood remnants might affect the sample.
