Ovulation, while breastfeeding?

Hello all!
My DD is 21 months now and I still breastfeeding once before bed. My period came back at 19 months and lasted 28 days. Am now on day 13 of this cycle. I didn't really track ovulation last cycle. I've done one ovulation test this morning and it was a very clear negative, not even a very faint visible line. I assumed I would ovulate around day 14 if last cycle was 28 days?
Is it possible that breastfeeding I still effecting ovulation? Or am I just over thinking things? Just really want to try for baby no.2 😓

You might not yet be ovulating due to breastfeeding, but equally you can't say you're not from one negative OPK! Keep doing them, and when you start getting a faint line starting doing them twice a day as you can easily miss the surge. Having a 28 day cycle doesn't necessarily mean you ovulate on day 14, for example I only have about a 10 day luteal phase so usually ovulate around day 18. Good luck!

I never got a positive ovulation test. I still managed to have 3 children, two conceived while still breastfeeding.

Im Breastfeeding but periods very irregular. Last month ovulated on day 56 this month 43. Not trying to conceive but like to track as not on contraception and as periods are irregular gives me an idea of when period will start as they have been horrendous since second baby so need to know so that I am prepared

I'm in the process of weaning my 2.5 yo for this reason. I also have a cycle of around 28 days and OPKs start peaking around CD12. BBT however doesn't seem to confirm ovulation. It took 3 years to conceive first time around and 25 months to get my periods back so I don't feel like time is on my side. I'm sad but it's probably for the best. I just really hope that when we stop it leads to pregnancy eventually!

Sending lots of baby dust 💓

Hi, I would start testing from day 9 to be safe and test twice a day like someone else has suggested. Supposedly it is best to test in the afternoon and then maybe late evening. I am breastfeeding too. My LO is almost 14 months old and my periods came back 4 months ago. We are just starting to try for a 4th. I doubt that you breastfeeding just the once is having a big affect on you not falling pregnant. I think you are just testing at the wrong time of your cycle. I am really lucky as I can feel when I ovulate and I have felt ovulation pains every month since my cycles started up again. My cycles are still irregular with them being between 26 and 31 days. My LP has lengthened a lot too since the first cycle so maybe keep an eye on your LP to check your body is definitely fertile at the moment x
