Negative test after MVA procedure

Hi everyone. I had a missed miscarriage over a month ago. My pregnancy tests after 3 weeks were still coming back as positive but only very very faint. EPAU scanned and I had retained products so I had an MVA done 3 days ago. They said to test again in 3 weeks to see if it's negative by then. I'm just wondering because it was so faint before the MVA, is there a chance that it will go negative sooner? The bleeding after MVA stopped after the next day so I'm just wondering if it is negative sooner, can we start trying again as they've said I don't have to wait until my next period? X

As soon as the bleeding has stopped, you are safe to try again, even if it is before your period. After my MMC, I tested negative when the bleeding stopped. My periods took a couple of months to settle and it was only after they had settled that we conceived again.

Definitely make sure you have a negative test before trying again, so that if you do get pregnant first try then you know it's definitely a new pregnancy. Other than that, once the bleeding has stopped / at least 7 days after the procedure (to avoid infection risk) you should be fine to have sex again x

@moosey89 ahh nobody said 7 days after the procedure which is what I was thinking! So I'll definitely wait until then. I had a negative this morning which is what I expected but I did randomly start bleeding again. I'm not sure if it could be a period though because my miscarriage started over a month ago? X

@KatieJ345 how long after the MMC did you get your negative? X

@Rolo08 I didn’t get a negative until about 2 weeks after as I had retained products. I passed them naturally and the bleeding stopped instantly. Then negative the next day.
