Day 21 progesterone test help pls!

I'm on my fifth PP cycle after finally getting my periods back at 25 months. I'm gradually weaning my 2 year old and breasteeding either once or twice a day, sometimes less (nothing all night). Getting positive OPKs about half-way through my cycle which seems to be between 26-28 days. I started tracking BBT this month too but my temps seem pretty erratic so no idea if I'm actually ovulating for sure.

My question is: would a GP check my day 21 progesterone if still breastfeeding and is this just done routinely or do you need to meet certain criteria? I know you can do tests at home so thought I'd ask here and see if I can save myself £40!

Anyone had it checked and found it useful? I know it's not necessarily 100% accurate as you can't always be sure when you ovulated if at all. I also can't help feeling I may be one of those women who needs to wean completely, especially with it taking so long to get cycles back.

Any advice/experiences appreciated!

Thanks 😊
