First go at IUI - any stories?

Hi,

I had a difficult c section with my dd 3 and a half years ago and have been ttc for 2 and a half years. I've had tests done and I am ovulating, had a lap and dye in September and my right tube was partially blocked but my left one was fine.

I'm having my first go at IUI this month. They've put me on clomid (not sure why as I am ovulating?) and I had a scan on Fri. My egg is def there but not big enough yet but I am worried because it's in my right ovary and my right tube is partially blocked.

Feel excited and nervous --- has anyone got any IUI stories?

Hi Hopingforbabyno2

Do you know why they have suggested IUI? Usually it is only something done if there are issues with sperm.

I was put on Clomid by my previous consultant, even though I, like you, was ovulating, I now think it was done as was something else for them to tick off the list. My previous consultant also suggested we try IUI, even though there were no issues with my husbands sperm. Again I think it was something else to tick off before IVF.

I have since changed consultants who's taken me off clomid, and actually got to the route of our problems - endometriosis. No amount of clomid or IUI would have helped us get pregnant.

If I was you I'd be questioning why they've got you on clomid and suggested IUI. Is it just to tick off that they've tried this or because they think it will help you get pregnant?

Good luck

They suggested IUI because they haven't found any cause for infertility so they said this has a 30% success rate where no causes of infertility are known.

DH's sperm are fine. They've checked for endometriosis.

They said this was the next step....?
