Currently in my fertile window so blindsided by hormones.

We’re going on holiday in October somewhere lovely and it’ll be a shame if I can’t enjoy a couple of cocktails. We’ve never been to somewhere as luxury as the holiday we have booked, so the plan had always been enjoy that holiday then TTC.

A huge part of me is saying to go for it now and that having a drink doesn’t matter. DH happy to do whatever I want to do and doesn’t think it makes a difference much. The downside might be that I feel rough. I think the odds are against feeling or being sick, given I didn’t suffer from HG previously and neither has any relative on my maternal side in any of their pregnancies.

I am a massive worrier and overthinker and again no history of loss in family and still <30 but would be worried if I miscarried it might ruin the holiday.

What would you do?

As someone who is currently 8 weeks pregnant (about what you’d be by my baby brained maths), I wouldn’t recommend a holiday like this. I feel like shit! I haven’t been sick but the urges catch me off guard and I have to shovel plain crackers in quick. When I do eat a meal, it leaves me with stomach ache so no chance of enjoying nice food. I am so tired all the time and even getting plenty of sleep in my own bed isn’t helping. If you’re going somewhere hot, trying to sleep might be really difficult. I am also anxiety ridden and know being away on holiday wouldn’t help.

I would wait until after the holiday and then you can enjoy being away without feeling awful.

I’d wait, it’s almost September. Early pregnancy can be rough and you should just enjoy your luxury holiday.

I'd wait. It's only a few weeks. You don't want morning sickness, fatigue or a miscarriage to ruin your holiday.

I should have also added that this is my third pregnancy. Each time has been different so couldn’t really know what to expect. I’ve felt exhaustion every time but only sickness in two of them. With DD1, I don’t think I ate almost anything in the first trimester because the food aversion was that bad.

I was in the same boat as you earlier this year. Was going to a festival with 5 nights camping and decided to stop TCC about 2 cycles beforehand so I could make the most of it. Now on cycle 8 of TTC and definitely don't regret the break. If anything it was massively beneficial to my mental health as I'd got myself all hung up with temping and all that. Since getting back on the baby wagon I've felt a lot more relaxed about things.

Wait, and start trying on holiday.

I've just done exactly that, I was on my period whilst on holiday, so now TTC.

I wanted to enjoy my holiday without the stress of being pregnant.

Hope you have a wonderful time!
