Has anyone had a false negative pregnancy test?

Hi guys, I'm currently 5 days late. I've never been this late ever! I've had no changes in my lifestyle. Pregnancy tests keep coming back negative. I'm so confused to what is going on. Has anyone had negative tests and still been pregnant?

Not at 5 days late , yes when I tested 3 days before. Turns out I just have drunk too much water and wasn’t First wee

It's definitely possible if you have a late ovulation/implantation and low base hcg, but it may be more likely that the stress if ttc (or any supplements you're taking to help aid ttc) messed with your cycle a little.

If you're not tracking ovulation, it's most likely that you just ovulated late this month, which makes your period late.

Thank you for your comments. I've no stress as we are not ttc but if it happens it happens and I'm not taking any supplements.
I had a chat with a nurse from my doctor's today and she said it's highly likely that it's just too early to tell at the moment as my cycle is pretty much bang on 28 days every month. So it's just a waiting game and I'm so impatient 🤣

@Girlmum14 I'd say this is possible. with my first I tested on the day of my missed period and it was negative, the following 2 days were also negative started getting cramps so thought AF was coming and then 3 or 4 days later still no af so thought I'd check one last time and I got my bfp!

Yes, during my last pregnancy I didn't get a positive test until 3 days after my missed period. Every test every morning before that was negative.
But I've had early positive tests in other pregnancies so really shows that every pregnancy is different.

A few years ago there was a dud batch of 'one step' cheapies which I'd bought from either ebay or amazon. They were extremely slow to show a line, I got false positives and false negatives over the years! (TTC 13yrs in total). One time I'd had IVF, so knew my dates exactly. I used to always follow up with a branded FRER though.

The vast majority of the time its either too early and the hCG levels haven't built up enough to show a result, the urine isn't concentrated enough (not first morning wee) or you aren't pregnant. A dud batch is apparently very rare.

I had 4 negative tests before apositive result. He is now 31!

I didn’t test positive with my first until about 7 days after the missed period. I was doing BBT though so I could already see when I ovulated and that I was probably pregnant due to high temperatures.
