How do you find out your ovulation pattern very quickly ?

I have been reading threads re checking - egg white mucus. Some say ovulation tests unreliable. Many people say that it takes a number of months to get the pattern of your ovulation. I am a 28 day girl - regular as clockwork.
I feel the need to know all of this very quickly because at 35, I feel like I don't have time to spend months and months recording and trying to find out if I ovulate on day 6, 14 or 21.
Am I being both lazy and unrealistic. How soon, any tips, or do I just need to relax and accept that it wil take 3-4 months to find out which day I ovulate.

hmm, welcome to the ttc club!! Ive been using them without much luck but i think have been testing at the wrong time. Some people swear by them and others will tell you not to touch them! Entirely up to you. You wont be losing anything by giving them a go for a month (buy online as much cheaper - ebay) i understand wanting to get on with it but yes it can take some people over a year...

Im going to give you advice i keep telling myself.. Just try to enjoy trying and not get to worked up by it or it becomes an obsession! I know i know! Practise what i preach!!

Im trying not stress out too much but easier said than done. I bought some tests from the internet, but have giving up using them!

I have been trying for 5 months (Am an oldie too) and Only bothered with Ovulation sticks once - with no 'hit'. I had one very expensive stick left which I used on day 16 of my cycle (we'd been having sex every other day that week anyway) and I was apparently ovulating so we had sex and still nothing (Have my period now) ... I am now doing the taking my temperature thing and will be checking for EWCM but have not been tempted to buy more sticks as they are so expensive.

I have heard loads of stories where people have fallen pregnant quickly and have credited OV sticks but who knows.

I am just going to see what happens but I am getting more panicked TBH

I think the best thing to do, if you want to know roughly when to get jiggy, is to just do it every day or so while you have EWCM. Apparently, even in healthy young couples, even if the sperm meets egg there's only a 25% chance of it turning into an embryo, and even that's got a 25% chance of miscarrying before you even know it's there, so it's just a numbers game.
