Faint positive with spotting

Hi, I’m new here, I am 36 and have been TTC since April, my cycles range between 25-28 days. This cycle I have been spotting since 10DPO cycle day 21, I did a test 11 DPO negative,
I tested again 13DPO and thought I saw something but thought my eyes were playing tricks on me so threw it away. Did another the next day at 14 DPO and saw a faint pink line. Obviously I was shocked! I decided to go get a blood test and it came back a few hours later at 13 mlU/mL which is “early pregnancy” result. My doctor told me to take Duphaston progesterone for the spotting. I’ve done tests since and the line seems to be faded but I still haven’t got a period. And the spotting has slowed. I am now cycle day 27, I’ve been spotting brown discharge for 7 days now. I’m having bloods done again tomorrow, but just wondered if anyone else had this experience? I have added a pic of my faint positive here. Thanks

@timeforbabyno1 didn't want to read and run...is that pic from 7 days ago before bloods or from today? I really wouldn't worry too much about line progression as it can be affected by so many things.. It sounds like you have a good doctor. If the spotting was brown it could just be old blood. Are you cramping along with it? I know it's tough but it's just a waiting game now. Maybe get more bloods tomorrow if you can to see if they've risen or try a digital test?

@Sez281 thanks for replying!

the test pic is from Friday morning, I went and had bloods done after that.
Saturday morning I did another test with the same type of test and a FRER and it was very faint, I’d say even fainter.
today is Sunday and I did another this morning and still fainter then Fridays one! But period still hasn’t arrived just still brown spotting… it’s so hard to know what to think

Oh I know it's so frustrating 😞 I think all you can do is wait unfortunately. Fingers crossed for you 🤞

Hi @timeforbabyno1 I just read this thread and couldn’t leave without responding. I’m 36 and ttc since April as well. I’m 11 or 12 DPO and started spotting today. The test I did today was negative though. Crossing my fingers for you! (And me 😊)

If you're worried @timeforbabyno1 tell the doctor you're spotting and ask for a repeat blood test. They can confirm the 2 results to see if yoir levels are increasing as they should be.

This early, line progression can be unreliable. Tests can have slightly different amounts of dye in them, especially cheap ones, and your urine can be slightly more, or less, diluted.

@Littlefern good luck to you! I did a pregnancy test this morning and it’s completely negative so it looks like it’s a chemical pregnancy for me. Gutted

@XenaTheWarriorPrincess hi, yes I had already arranged for another blood test to be taking today, have tested again though and it’s completely negative, I am still taking progesterone though and that hasn’t stopped the spotting at all. I also haven’t come on my period yet.. I’m not sure how long after a chemical you come on your period or whether it’s because I’m taking progesterone
anyway looks like I’ve had a chemical pregnancy

Oh @timeforbabyno1 I'm so sorry to hear that :(

Hopefully the next one comes quickly and is a sticky bean x

Thank you @XenaTheWarriorPrincess

@timeforbabyno1 just to add, you won't have a proper bleed until you stop the progesterone, but probably best to wait until your bloods confirm the chemical until stopping it.

Sorry again, lots of self care and chocolate for the next few days x

Sez281 · 21/08/2023 08:36

@timeforbabyno1 sorry to hear that. I think every chemical is different. For some bleeding comes first which happened to me, for others it might be a few more days. Mind yourself, I'm sure it will happen soon xx
