Hey girls hope you’re all well.
just looking for some advice, so me and my partner have been trying to conceive for 2 years now with no luck. I have recently been to the doctors and they’ve only booked me in for routine blood tests which I’ve already had and swabs in the next coming days, I’ve had to book cycle day 1 and 21 blood tests to see if I am ovulating etc. I’m waiting for the routine blood test results to come back too. My periods are quite irregular, I do come on when I’m due on but my periods last 10+ days and it’s mainly brown discharge and some days heavy bleeding, I never really had period pains.
has anyone had fertility checks through the nhs? Just wondering about other people’s experiences. Also to add my partner is being tested but it’s not until November.

Hi op. Make sure you have a hycosy to flush out your fallopian tubes. A simple procedure but can potentially help.

Yes, ive been through this twice. My experience was:

  1. go to the GP, they do routine bloods, day 21 etc
  2. referral to the fertility clininc (usually at the hospital)
  3. referral clinic repeat bloods, do internal ultrasounds for the women, semen analysis for the men
  4. meeting with the consultant to discuss a plan. The first time round i started treatment (ovulation induction), second time around some further tests were needed (an HSG) before treatment started.

The whole process took about 12months the first time (but slightly delayed due to covid) and resulted in DD1. The second time took about 10months and currently v early pregnant with DC2. Not sure if the timescales would be different with IVF.

Its so hard but keep the faith 💪 Bloods and the doctor is great first step. Wishing you lots of luck and a happy ending to your TTC journey.

Hi I've had the exam same thing. First bloods were October 23. I'm still waiting and no one can tell me anything. I called a private clinic yesterday and the initial tests are £470 and they can get me in next week. Save the stress, I wish I had.
