Do the tests your GP do, give an earlier result than HPT?

I wondered this so called my GP and they said the tests they use are exactly the same as you buy in the shops, they can do blood tests which are more accurate but it takes a while to get the results back and they would only usually do that if you kept getting BFN's.

You can buy more sensitive tests on the internet, you should look out for the number of MIU's. The lower the number the more sensitive they are. Eg. most high street tests are 25MIU but you can buy some which are 10MIU so they can detect a lower amount of the pregnancy hormone.

Hope this is of some help to you xxx

Pinky - you won't get quicker than Sunday I'm afraid. GP standard tests are 25MIU so you may as well wait. Blood tests take four days processing (not counting weekends).

Sunday is not too far away my dear. I know it may seem it (but nine months is a lot longer and it's worth the wait)

My surgery sends your phial of pee away to a lab 25 miles away!

WTF?

And they won't take your word for it that you're pregnant, even if you've done test after test.

Expat - they maybe think you are coveting the pregnancy notes folder. After all it's such a convenient size and fetching colour .

My doc on the other hand says: 'done a test. Great, I won't bother then'. Then forgets to book you a dating scan for ten weeks!
