Hello everyone!! Been ttc #3 for 6 months now and wondering if being coeliac is making it difficult.
Would love to hear any fellow coeliac's conception journeys.

Hi ya , I am coeliac, was undiagnosed for many many years and conceived but did have difficult pregnancies and a tiny baby which I believe was related to the coeliac . Been diagnosed and gluten free for 3 years now and recently conceived number 3 on first Try currently 5weeks pregnant . I think as long as you are strict with GF there is no reason coeliac should impact you but everyone's journeys are different. Best of luck and fingers crossed it will be your turn soon xx

I'm not a medical professional, but a quick Google search would suggest something to do with vitamin B12 deficiency and anaemia. As coeliac disease is the malabsorption of nutrients, implantation may be affected by it. It's not very clear at all, just that if you have coeliac disease and/or vitamin B12 deficiency, quarterly injections of vitamin B12 wouldn't hurt.

@Plumbibii i hole you don’t mind me reaching out to you as this post is a few months old!

Have you managed to conceive since the post? I’m TTC #1 for 6 months and had no luck yet and I’m getting tested for coeliac now so I’m wondering if that’s playing a part

@Foreverhopeful23 I hope you also don’t mind me asking, when TTC before following a gluten free diet did it take you longer to conceive?

Foreverhopeful23 · 28/11/2023 09:14

@Roseberry22 hi ya . I conceived very easily fortunately but when I wasn't on a GF diet baby didn't grow very well , he was prem and was very tiny for his gestation. X

@Foreverhopeful23 thank you for replying, I’m sorry to hear that about your son. We’ve been trying for 6 months now and nothing I know they say it can take up to a year even for a healthy couple but it’s difficult to try and not worry!
