As the title, been trying for over 10 years had all the tests etc, came back as unexplained fertility. Periods are consistently every 28 days now I've missed one and way over for this months (last was end of May). I'm too scared to test though. I know I have to or get checked out if not, I cant face another negative though. Help please

Have you got one in the house? Or do you need to pop to the shop first?
As you say, you need to get checked out if it’s negative, jut actually you also need to get some medical attention very soon if you are pregnant because you’d be 9-10 weeks by now and so it would be time for some scans.
So. You’ve had no period since the end of May. You need to call the midwife service or your gp. (If you’re in the UK - it varies a bit if you’re not). This pregnancy test is going to tell you which of those things you need to do. Don’t let yourself think too much at the moment about the anxiety you very understandably have over the possibility of a baby or of a negative test. Think of it as you’re own test for your own health decision. Like taking your temperature to check if you have a high fever or not.

Thank you, no I would need to get one, I have some symptoms like feeling sick all the time, hot flushes but tbh I've been putting them to the back of my mind not to get my hopes up again. UK yes

Also worried its menopause

OP posts:
fullbloom87 · 04/08/2023 02:33

OP if it was menopause it's highly unlikely that you'd have regular periods then out of the blue they stop, I'm pretty sure that's not normally how it works.
Did I read it right that you haven't had a period since may and you've been feeling sick?

namechange27352 · 04/08/2023 02:36

Yes

The period at the end of May was super light?
OP that means you could potentially be as much as 13-14 weeks pregnant, if the light bleeding was just implantation bleeding. Go and get a test first thing this morning. You need to know. Antenatal care is really important. They can pick and prevent a range of issues for the mother and the baby that can be dangerous if left untreated. I know it’s scary but you know that there is a very high chance that you are pregnant and waiting until you start feeling movement or have an undeniable bump is not the best idea healthwise.
If it’s negative then mumsnet will be here for solidarity.

I finally conceived naturally after 12 years of unexplained infertility, I did have successful ivf in the meantime but never expected to get pregnant after all those years, it was quite a shock, how old are you? And have you been to get a test yet?

@namechange27352 everything crossed for you! I'm 37 too and still hopeful I have a few years left in me. Plenty of women into their 40s still have babies so it's certainly not last chance saloon.

Just also to say that sometimes if you are really quite a few weeks pregnant, the test may look less positive than it does early on (a thing called the hook effect) so if you get a line and think it looks too faint, don't panic. I would suggest if any line at all, ask for bloods with your GP to confirm. If you mention to them/midwives your last menstrual period date too they are likely to have you in for a scan very soon.

Sending so much love and luck your way 💗
