BFP on CD56? Am I dreaming?

I’ve just taken a pregnancy test on CD56 and within 2 minutes this was the result. I’ve taken a test every single day since around CD35 as AF never arrived and every single one was negative

I haven’t had a single pregnancy symptom other than no AF. I’m so confused. Is this a BFP? Surely there should have been one earlier than this?? Or is this an error? I really don’t want to get my hopes up and be crushed if it’s a false positive

This looks positive to me but I have idea of why previous ones might have shown negative.
I am sure other more knowledgeable people will be along soon.
congratulations

Another photo of the test, could it just be the dye that has run? I’ve been drinking gin all bloody weekend thinking there’s no way I’d be pregnant and get a BFN this late in my cycle!

It looks like a faint positive to me!

I'd try testing again with FMU and an 'early result' test.

It may be that you ovulated and/or implanted late, which would mean a late result!

Nomorecoconutboosts · 02/08/2023 16:48

Yes it still looks positive.
go and buy whatever brand is currently recommended as the most reliable (my youngest dc is 15 so I’m no practical help!) - and test again tomorrow morning,

Poppins2016 · 02/08/2023 16:51

Even looking at the second picture, I'd say it looks like a faint positive. The early lines aren't always as thick looking until a little later on...

I had a similar experience with my first baby, OP. Tested negative a couple of times, figured my period was coming on (had some awful cramps), drank wine all week, had some hot baths to ease the 'period' pains and then got a late, faint positive! The baby was fine!

Do you typically have long cycles? I have PCOS which throws mine out (both ovulation date and length in general).

glasshalffull0 · 02/08/2023 16:53

@Poppins2016 usually around 30-32 days. I took Pregnacare conception for 2 months and it increased the first months cycle to 35 days so I just assumed it was those tablets lengthening my cycle again and stopped taking them!

When was the last time you BDd? I think it looks positive!

glasshalffull0 · 02/08/2023 17:04

@isitaline97 we did it about 3 times when I thought I was ovulating last which would've been towards the end of June, then we had about a 2-week gap because I developed thrush, then since then we've been BD about once a week, the most recent being the end of last week

I had exactly the same with my last pregnancy. My usual cycles are 30-33 days. Tested positive on CD53, having consistently tested negative prior to that. It was driving me mad that the cycle was so long as I assumed there no chance of it resulting it pregnancy at that stage. I’ve never had a cycle that long before or since. But it was a healthy pregnancy and that baby is now three years old! Just caused a bit of confusion with dating as it’s done on LMP date, so I had a second ‘12 week’ scan as was only 8 weeks at the first. Congratulations and hope all goes well from here.

glasshalffull0 · 02/08/2023 17:15

@monkeyted I’m glad to see there’s other people in a similar situation to me! Was baby due a couple of weeks later due to late ovulation/conception?

I feel awful I’ve been having a good couple of glasses of gin for the past few nights because it was totally clearly white negative until today!

I would say that you didn't ovulate when you think you did in June. I'd put money on ovulation being 10-14 days ago!

(Again, that's the mistake I made with my first pregnancy... I told my DH that we might as well forego contraception as we'd decided to start trying however there was no point getting our hopes up as I must have already ovulated that month. Ha!)

monkeyted · 02/08/2023 19:31

Yes my due date from the scans ended up being almost 4 weeks later than it should have been based on last period (and baby was then 2 weeks late, so essentially was born 46 weeks after last period!). I must have just ovulated weeks later than expected for some unknown reason. Like PP says, I would guess that despite the length of time, you only ovulated about 10-14 days ago.

isitaline97 · 02/08/2023 19:46

I agree with a PP that you most likely had delayed ovulation 10-14 days ago with a line like that!

When we were ttc my cycles were all over the shop longer and longer, eventually I got to almost 3 months with no period, many negative tests around the time of the 'missed' period, and decided to book a Drs app.

Though 'best take a test just in case' - positive. CBD 2-3. When I did the maths I'd got pregnant on CD60-something. Madness.

glasshalffull0 · 03/08/2023 07:19

Morning ladies, took 3 tests this morning (2 of the ones I already had and 1 digital Clearblue) and they were all negative 😞I guess my extra long cycle continues!

Poppins2016 · 03/08/2023 07:49

I'm sorry to hear that, @glasshalffull0 🙁

I'd probably try again in a few days with a sensitive test, just in case. FMU is usually more concentrated but that isn't always the case (I've recently found testing in the evening gives a stronger result, probably because I don't drink enough!) Hcg doubles every 2-3 days, so it's worth leaving it a bit.

Italianasoitis · 03/08/2023 07:54

Op this happened to me about 10 years ago. I got an immediate and strong bfp on an Internet cheapie like that. Except it wasn't and when i tested after that, the tests were all negative. It was so disappointing and I remember crying my eyes out as I really thought I was pregnant. As it happens, a year later I did manage to conceive and went on to have 3 kids very easily!

monkeyted · 03/08/2023 12:54

Oh that’s a shame @glasshalffull0 It looked so clear yesterday.

isitaline97 · 03/08/2023 20:11

How strange OP that line looked so clear! Hope your okay, what a confusing time

glasshalffull0 · 03/08/2023 20:31

Thank you everyone, it's a very strange feeling! Think AF may have appeared today too looks like red/dark brown blood mixed in with clear CM along with some mild period cramps.

I need to stop dwelling, overthinking everything and move on otherwise it will just become consuming
