Missed miscarriage - Post surgery testing

Hi All,

I had a missed miscarriage about 2 weeks ago, and last Friday has the surgical management procedure carried out.
My pregnancy tests have Gradually got lighter and lighter, but I did an ovulation test this morning, just to see, and it’s incredibly dark.
Pic included to show a very faint pregnancy positive and very strong LH result.

Is this just the LH test picking up on what’s left of the HCG?

Thanks

I had surgical management today and got told I wouldn't ovulate again until after my pregnancy test shows as negative - I'm not too sure what this means in terms of you having a lot of LH in your system though, sorry!

I did find this, which says you don't have high LH during pregnancy, so you might be ovulating??

LH is a key hormone when you’re trying to conceive. So what do you need to know? A Flo expert breaks it down.

It's possible youre ovulating again if it's been 2 weeks, but they can also pick up hcg.... Really hard to answer so if you're up for it mentally and physically maybe you can dtd just in case 🤞

Thanks @moosey89

i hope today went ok for you? I bought pregnancy tests to test early because I feel a bit obsessive about being as informed as I can be about what’s happening (probably because I was totally oblivious to miscarrying). My tests have been visibly getting lighter since Tuesday and todays you have to sort of squint to see it.

It's only really been a week if you didn't lose any pregnancy material until the surgery. So ovulation in that time frame unlikely. Are you trying to see if you can TTC now?

moosey89 · 20/07/2023 16:19

@HashB if they're still getting lighter I'd guess you need to wait for them to go fully negative. I was told to test after 3 weeks (which I'm guessing is their usual timeframe for it to be negative for the majority of people).

Today went as well as it could thank you - surgery went smoothly and every single member of staff/doctor/nurse was absolutely amazing, I couldn't have asked for better care x

I think I’m having a missed miscarriage also, I’m feeling so unsure about everything that has happened! Sorry to hijack your thread!

Kellyaust · 20/07/2023 16:25

I had a missed miscarriage in may, had medical management though wodhbid done surgery coz I had retained tissue n then got infection. Went on from 4th May til 6th june 😪

HashB · 20/07/2023 16:27

@Whataretheodds I do want to try again soon, not really feeling the idea today, but I really do want to get a handle on my cycle for when the feeling hits.

@moosey89 thats good to hear, I hope you continue to recover well xx

@Bluebigfence no need to apologise. Have you been to hospital for a scan?

OP posts:
Bluebigfence · 20/07/2023 16:33

last menstrual period was 6th may - 11 th may
found out I was pregnant on 19th June “2/3 weeks clear blue”
had a brown bleed not filling a pad or anything just a few spots and on wiping on 6 July
went to the EPU had bloods done.. 1850 (figures not exact can’t remember from my head)
then again bloods repeated to 2600.. then had a scan where they could see an empty sac 10th July.. repeat bloods 48 hour time frame went to 3650
Queried a missed miscarriage.. went back for a scan on the 17th where they could see the yolk sac “what they thought was” as it was too small to tell..
dates just don’t make any sense but something has grown from previous scan. I’m feeling really anxious about it.

Sorry you went through this also, hopefully you conceive again shortly wishing you all the best X

@Bluebigfence do you know when you ovulated?

Whataretheodds · 20/07/2023 16:41

Judging by posts on here not everyone recieves the same NHS factsheet I received: 1)nothing in the vagina for at least 2 weeks after surgery or 2 weeks after the bleeding stops, whichever is the later. 2) Wait until after your next period.

I'm 42 so don't have the luxury of time but followed the guidance. It seemed silly not to.

Well when you get told by medical staff that you can try again on your next ovulation without waiting for a period you tend to trust what they say, what's right for one person may not be for another.

Bluebigfence · 20/07/2023 16:51

@moosey89
im irregular, but from my tracking app ovulation happened between 19-23 May.
Last scan I went for she said I was measuring around 6 weeks..

moosey89 · 20/07/2023 17:01

@Bluebigfence from my personal experience, it sounds like it's measuring a long way behind, which wouldn't be good news. I was measuring 12 days behind and unfortunately ended in missed miscarriage at at scan at 10+1. Really sorry. Hope you get answers soon, the limbo is awful x

That's what I'm saying- we all seem to get different info.

Bluebigfence · 20/07/2023 17:03

Yes I can’t wait for this next scan just so I know what is happening.
Thanks for your advice means a lot x

moosey89 · 20/07/2023 17:10

@Whataretheodds we do get different guidance unfortunately - the waiting for the next period is purely for dating reasons (some NHS trusts just give it as the general advice, which is fair enough). We all go by whatever medical guidance we're given :)

moosey89 · 20/07/2023 17:10

@Bluebigfence I'll be thinking of you x

We do indeed that's why I always so do what's right for you

HashB · 20/07/2023 18:37

@Whataretheodds and @Kellyaust I left hospital with absolutely no guidance. They just told me it had gone well and I was free to go!

OP posts:
Emmamoo89 · 20/07/2023 18:40

It'll be the hcg picking up. You can't ovulate till the test is negative. Sorry for your loss x
