Should I go for ivf?

-reposted from infertility board as I've had no responses ☹️-

Hi!

I've posted previously regarding having a laparoscopy and discovering my left fallopian tube is blocked. My surgeon was extremely optimistic that I would conceive naturally however I'm now on month 8 and still nothing has happened.

I obviously don't want to 'give up' naturally if it is likely to happen but I also don't want to wait if it isn't. I just don't know what to do but every month that passes I feel like it's just not going to happen because of my blocked fallopian tube.

Should I pursue ivf or am I completely jumping the gun?

Thank you

Hi OP sorry to hear you have a blocked fallopian tube, but if your other tube is fine and you are under 35 I would at least try for 12 months before doing IVF. Even with two open fallopian tubes and everything healthy it can take 12 months + to conceive.
I would recommend using OPKs so you know you are dtd on the right days or trying the SMEP!

@Cary88

Thank you so much for your advice. I am 30.
I do use opks and have tried SMEP but I've gone back to trying every other day from cycle day 10 up until my ovulation day according to the tests. Then tend to do it 3 days in a row from positive test. I hope it's enough!!

Thank you xx

I think taking your age into account I would probably also wait for 1 year. I understand you want it happening as soon as possible (I've gone through IVF with my 3rd) but it's not an easy process. If you can avoid it it's best. Also, it's not a very quick process. Most women getting into it need at least 3 months to finish the 1st cycle. It's a long process and not always an easy one.

But at the end of the day you need to do what's right for you!

@Happyface82

Thank you!
Obviously I really don't want to have to face ivf yet I just feel so hopeless and low.

I appreciate the responses thank you. X

Of course it makes sense. It's such a difficult process. I would also discuss it with your doctor. See what they say and take it from there. I really hope it happens super soon for you.

@Happyface82

Thank you so much.
My doctor did initially say to wait at least a year before going for ivf as he was so optimistic that I wouldn't have a problem! I think I'm panicking because I'm now closer to the year mark than the beginning!
