Anovulation + BBT HELP!

Optimistic66 · 19/07/2023 08:29

Hi,

I usually have irregular cycles but still somewhere between 28 - 35 days. I ovulate towards day 19/20/21.

I am on day CD30 and according to my BBT have not yet ovulated so i think im having anovulatory cycle. When TTC this can obviously be frustrating? but now how do i know when i will get the start of my next cycle/bleeding etc? Does it tend to just happen?

This super long cycle makes me sad, as TTC is a process, and i feel like i've lost a month of trying and more than a month tbh as it already day 30.

I've attached my chart for you all to see :) and i've attached two months by view - if anyone has any thoughts.

You might still ovulate yet this month, just much later which would make it a very long cycle. Or period might just turn up after a while when body realises it's not going to ovulate. It does look like your body has had 2 attempts at ovulating already (temp dips on days 17 and 26). Although your temps are very low this month (majority below 36c which is odd), are these accurate? You can get low BBT with underactive thyroid.
It's difficult to know if/when you'll ovulate this month. Do you track cervical mucous too? Only thing I can suggest is doing the bd whenever you have fertile fluid in the hope that you go on to ovulate.
I use an app call groove to track my BBT and CM. I really love their website which has loads of info about fertility tracking and what charts look like in pcos/annovulation etc. Here's a link to one of the info pages you might find helpful www.readytogroove.com/the-cycle/appendix-c-the-sympto-thermal-method-for-reproductive-health

Appreciate it can be very frustrating. I would keep going with fertility friend temping, as PP said cervical mucous is an excellent indicator too. You may yet ovulate this month. Are you sure your temp taking is correct? No water/open mouth breathing etc that could influence temps? FF has an excellent charting course and Q&A on the app with lots of guidance. If you can’t temp at the same time every day (within around a 30 min window) then you could try a bbt adjuster online for the earlier/later readings.

Hi @Lily124 and
@CurlyWurly1991

thanks for responding- it looks like it's a wait and see game then! i will continue DTD! although it safe to say i am getting tired!

My temp is always below 36 pre ov then shoots up after ovulation! I've had thyroid tested several times over the last few years but always comes back normal! if i mentioned BBT to my doctor he would defo roll his eyes at me!

I try to be consistent but odd night wake up at like 4am and usually test at 6 and try to be immediate! think i'll just set two alarms!

@Optimistic66 Ah that’s okay. I really love all their info about fertility/our cycles and the sample charts, helped me understand my body so much! I started using it because I was worried I wasn’t ovulating because I have irregular cycles, but once I started tracking I could see that I am it’s just usually quite late in the month! Fingers crossed your ovulation and BFP come soon 🤞

Thanks it was super interesting - it actually made me wonder if i have low progestorone - as i fitted more of the 'symptoms'.

I went to the fertility clinic but they refuse to help until i get my BMI down to 29.9 and i'm 32.6 at moment but find it so challenging shifting weight - regardless of excercise/healthy eating so feel super stuck.

Only reassuring thing is this is cycle 3 of tracking BBT and i have ovulated (clear temp rise) in other cycles.

Fingers crossed your BFP is around the corner! How long have you been ttc?

@Optimistic66 ooh that's interesting, looks like you have a good length luteal phase though!

It's only my 2nd cycle and I actually got a faint positive yesterday but period not due til the weekend so still cautious it might not stick! I've been using groove for almost a year though, first just tracking cervical mucous then started doing BBT and OPKs in Jan so feel like I knew my fertility signs really well by the time it came to try!

How long have you been TTC? Sorry you're having a tough time losing weight for IVF, frustrating there's so many barriers 😔 sending lots of baby dust for a successful natural cycle soon though ✨
