Hi all. First time poster so please excuse any mistakes!

I’ve been trying for a baby for 6 years. Unexplained infertility apparently!!

this month I’m 4 days late and had 2 negative tests 😞

I’ve had discharge, mild cramping and mild back ache, like my period is coming but not as intense as usually.

my cycle is never longer than 27 days. I definitely ovulated and had sex at the right time - and more 🤩

im now concerned….could this be the start of menapause? I’m 41. I really hope not but I don’t understand the lateness and negative test.

im making a DR appointment - not sure what they will do but in the mean time has anyone got any experiences or insight they could share?

thank you in advance. X

Meet your sister. Also normally regular, but currently four days late with cramping and tests showing BFN. In my situation, I went through a week of extreme anxiety around the time I would have been expecting to ovulate, so I'm wondering if that delayed things because I can't think of what else it could be. It's so stressful - I just want AF to start at this point.

BePositive1982 · 17/07/2023 12:32

wow! How similar! Is it possible to get negative tests when you’re this late but are actually pregnant?

I hope all works out how you wish! X

I've read a few comments here from people who didn't get a BFP until they were a week late, so it is possible!

It's the uncertainty that's driving me crazy. A BFP would be amazing, but if not, at least if AF starts, then I know and can move on to thinking about the next cycle.

Mummyme87 · 17/07/2023 13:06

is there a chance you ovulated later than usual therefore shifting your expected period date?
Im assuming based on the length of time you have been TTC you track within an inch of your life.

BePositive1982 · 17/07/2023 15:46

Yes I do track very carefully 🤣 just feeling very frustrated and a little worried that my time maybe up and the menapause will have to be considered.

Would perimenopause cause a longer luteal phase? I thought it was more likely to have irregular or absent ovulation. Do you track your BBT? That could be a good indicator. They say that 18 days of high temps and no AF is usually pregnancy. Personally I tested negative until 18dpo with my first and could be certain of the ovulation date due to BBT and only dtd a couple of times. Fingers crossed for you.

BePositive1982 · 17/07/2023 16:24

Thank you! No I don’t track BBT.

keeping everything crossed for either a positive test or AF at the moment

Just thought I’d update to say I’m now 10 days overdue. Last test I took was 4 days ago and it was still negative. I can’t bare to take another but still no AF.

Itsasomething · 21/07/2023 22:10

Oh! Just joining in as I'm in the same boat! 4-7 days late with same symptoms and BFN. It's so frustrating!

CaffeineAndCrochet · 22/07/2023 00:56

AF finally showed for me, a week late.

Keeping my fingers crossed for you @BePositive1982

Blueuggboots · 22/07/2023 03:14

I didn't get a positive test until I was 11 days late for my period. He's now 12.

BePositive1982 · 22/07/2023 05:46

I’m sorry! Thank you x

Splashed out on some clearblues, it's a clear bfp. I need to rely less on cheapies!

CurlyWurly1991 · 22/07/2023 18:54

@Itsasomething congratulations !!! Best of luck with the next 9 months x

Wildfloral · 23/07/2023 04:11

@BePositive1982 how are you going today?

BePositive1982 · 23/07/2023 08:47

@Wildfloral still no AF, no symptoms of anything! So frustrating! Having never missed a period in 40 years this is very unusual. Thanks for asking

BePositive1982 · 25/07/2023 11:26

So here we are, day 13 with no AF! Still negative! Occasionally nausea (probably I'm my head though). Today I'm experiencing ovulation like symptoms. Clear pain to the left and a lot of discharge. GP not much help! Any advice or anyone experienced similar?

Can’t your gp offer a blood test?

Is your pregnancy test definitely negative? I only ask as mine are always VERY faint when positive…

Yes, definitely negative. I've tried cheap ones and digital ones. I've submitted a request online today for a blood test (can't get through on the phone). I have to say (and I wouldn't say I was usually a sufferer), the impact on my mental health makes the situation almost cruel!

TolkiensFallow · 25/07/2023 11:37

thats terrible, you absolutely need a blood test. I’m glad you’re pushing for it
