Experiences with Pregnacare conception tablets

My cycles usually last between 30-32 days and have done since I came off the pill a year ago so I am regular. I started taking Pregnacare conception tablets 2 months ago and my first cycle with them was 37 days long. I had of course convinced myself I was pregnant and became extremely upset when I realised I was just late.

I've since decided to stop taking them and stopped about 2 weeks ago, I'm currently on CD38 and still no sign of AF.

Has anyone had similar experiences with these tablets and if so how long did it take to get back to your regular cycle after stopping them?

Thanks in advance

Hi OP, yes I did, I went from 26/27 days to 30ish and my cycle was getting longer each month. Only a couple of days out but I stopped taking it and just stick to folic acid now! Only took me the one cycle to get back to normal (this one).

I stopped using these too as they messed with my cycle and also gave me a really upset stomach!! I’ve just been taking folic acid tablets from Tesco, I think folic acid and a healthy diet is hopefully enough

CaffeineAndCrochet · 16/07/2023 15:43

Used them first month TTC. Brought my period on a week and a half early - thankfully, went back to normal once I'd stopped using them.

My sil used them and found her cycle was going past 40 days. She went to the gp who advised her to stop taking and just take folic acid instead. She’s been off them for a little while now and her cycle is back to normal.

I was taking them and they pushed my cycle back by 6 days. Mine has always been 28/29 days max. It went back to normal after I came off them.

I’m currently on CD39 and nothing! I feel a bit silly for not researching properly beforehand but I’ll try anything for a baby!

hopefully it goes back to normal next cycle, just sticking to folic acid from now on.

do you take folic acid every day of your cycle or just during the TWW?

I just started to take these this month, my cycle is normally 25/26 days I am now on day 33 and nothing with negative tests every day for the last 5 days. Having read up on these I now realise this is what has caused it and not pregnancy! I have been having all the pms symptoms since the day I was due on and just feel miserable! I stopped taking them two days ago! Can anyone tell me when they finally came on after taking them? This is an awful product as now it will be difficult to gauge when I am ovulating or even when I will be able to conceive again! TIA

PinkRoses1245 · 08/09/2023 22:03

I never took them, i read negative reviews. I take vitamin D and some iron supplements which have folic acid in them.

PinkRoses1245 · 08/09/2023 22:04

If your diet is varied and healthy you shouldn’t need supplements apart from folic acid and vitamin D as recommended by NHS. Much more beneficial to get nutrients from diet

BiscuitsandPuffin · 08/09/2023 22:05

I had no problems with them. Used them with both successful pregnancies as I have to pre-load myself with nutrients before the hyperemesis gravidarum kicks in.

Smcf · 08/09/2023 22:16

The problem is when I bought these I did do my research and it was mostly great reviews and I thought why not everything in one rather than taking supplements seperatly! I took Pregnacare during my previous pregnancy (not before I conceived so not these specific ones) and had no issues. It wasn’t until I was late and was getting negative tests I decided to google “can Pregnacare cause a cycle delay” as I would never have thought a product that is designed to do exactly the opposite would so didn’t research this specific question beforehand. I came across 100’s of women who had experienced the same! I am just asking for those who have clearly been affected in this way (delighted for those that weren’t) when did your cycle return? This is quite a huge worry for someone who is TTC who up until this month has had a completely regular cycle!

Confusedddddddd · 08/09/2023 22:36

@Smcf I use these due to having a short luteal phase but it only lengthens it by a day or two. It's one of the B vitamins that does it.
If you're that late I'd suggest there's probably something else going on and I'd see your GP.
There's plenty of reasons your period can be delayed but if doubt it has anything to do with a multivitamin.

No issues with Pregnacare conception vitamins. Worked really well when trying for my first born.

riverlodge90 · 10/09/2023 23:19

I took them for one month and they made my very regular 30 day cycle turn into 34 days. I ovulated cd22 instead of 18. Stopped taking them and my cycle went straight back to normal. I now take the seven seas version with no issues.
