If clearblue know they suck for evaps...

...why do they continue to sell the products that they know cause heartache?

I took a clearblue when I got home from work, it was negative, I left it in the bathroom and went to lie on the sofa, fell asleep, DH came home in the meantime and found the test and thought it was positive 😔

Whether it's an evap or an indent, it's just so sad :(

Lesson learned for me to just put them in the bin when they're negative.

Period due tomorrow, want it to just hurry up and get here now.

Are you 100% sure that's an evap? I thought the cross ones don't usually get evaps only the one line ones.

SunHeat · 14/07/2023 20:22

I guess they do say to disregard any result after the timeframe. Definitely not worth looking after that as can cause heartache and false hope.

mushroomushroom · 14/07/2023 20:50

@Kellyaust I'm quite sure yeah, I looked at it over five minutes after I took the test and it was completely negative (took it apart to hold it up to the light too 😅)

This is about 30/40 mins after I took the test. From what I've seen online clearblue's are notorious for showing lines after the time (although I hadn't heard that about the cross ones, I just assumed it was all of them). Who knows, maybe it'll have been telling the truth, but I have zero hope.

I think the iffy bit with the CB ultra early ones is claiming that they can show from 5 days before your period or whatever, when from that early it's so difficult to tell between a really early faint positive and an evap, so you might as well not bother. I think with most tests the longer you wait the more chance you have of getting an obvious line and they cover themselves re. evaps by stating not reading after 5 minutes, giving the percentage of true positives at each day etc.

mushroomushroom · 14/07/2023 21:30

@curliegirlie yeah i wouldn't waste a "nice" test so early before a period, I just always think to myself "probably haven't implanted yet anyway so why bother". I wonder about how many can actually get a positive test so early, it just doesn't make much sense!

In my case I'm between 12-14dpo, period due tomorrow. This was the first month in a long time I haven't been tracking ovulation with opks or bbt to "relax" (which did not actually help me to relax 🤣) so I'm not 100% sure on dpo. FF says I'm 14dpo, Premom says I should be 12dpo, both predicting period for tomorrow.

If I did turn out to be pregnant I would be bloody delighted, but I'm trying not to get my hopes up.

@mushroomushroom yeah I completely understand I had the evaps on the single line CB last month... And it was our first cycle ttc after our mmc so we were devastated. They're awful bloody things and I won't touch one again unless I get 1000% positive on something else then I'd consider using a CB digital

That happened to me with my first positive, showed a line after hours left in the bin (a cheap strip test)
Not saying it is positive of course but could just be super early. My evap line kn a clear blue was much fainter than that, literally squinting and holding it up to the light 🙈

mushroomushroom · 14/07/2023 21:40

@Kellyaust ugh I'm so sorry, it's just so awful 😔 I also won't use a clearblue again, like you I might try one of the digital week ones if I was super sure I was pregnant, but I just can't deal the false positives.

The upper test in your photo is especially cruel it really looks like a line

I used the cheap pink dye ones from amazon. Never had an evap. The only time I got a line was when I was pregnant at 10dpo and I went and got a first response pink dye to confirm it. Then a clear blue digi the next day. Then a pink cheapy every day to watch the line get stronger and to use them up.

Kellyaust · 14/07/2023 21:47

@mushroomushroom really really harsh month that was honestly I think I cried for 5 days straight. But I also got an evap before the CB on first response which are supposed to be the best tests.... Now ill stick to my strip tests they've never gave me evaps before. You'll have to keep us updated to see if yours is definitely an evap or not 🤞 this was my first response evap....

@Kellyaust I can see the line on the first response too! So bloody crap that they all got your hopes up! I'm so sorry, I can really relate to the crying for days 😔 I had a loss last year and nothing since, only hint of a line was this stupid bloody evap.

Kellyaust · 14/07/2023 22:42

@mushroomushroom so sorry for your loss too, it's the worst isn't it. Mine was in may and I already feel like after 2 ovulations it's taking forever and I'm worried it won't happen. I hope this isn't an evap for you still 🤞🌈

TomorrowToday · 14/07/2023 22:48

Oh god how awful for you both x

It will happen x

Hi ladies I'm over 2wks late I've done a cb digital and it came back negative almost 2wk ago. This morning I did a cb Cross one straight away negative but 1hr later a blue line appeared is this evap?? Im bloated like never before light cramping and my hips and lower back are killing me. I had an early miscarriage in April (6wk gone) and apart from sore boobs everything is the same as last time.

mushroomushroom · 15/07/2023 18:57

Hi Candy, sadly I think your test is probably an evap, I had similar after roughly an hour, and it seems my period is starting today :(

It's bizarre that you're two weeks late though. Is there any chance you've ovulated late? If you have then it's possible you're not actually "late" yet. Failing that, perhaps a visit to the doctor to clear things up is in order...

Tbh I say it came up an hour later but I never checked after 2 mins so I don't actually know when it came up. I'll leave it a bit longer see what happens. My body is naturally like clockwork bang on everytime.

Kellyaust · 16/07/2023 16:03

@mushroomushroom any update?

jadey1991 · 16/07/2023 16:23

Hi ladies, I find the digital cb tests better. Maybe try those ones or the pink dye ones.

mushroomushroom · 16/07/2023 17:39

@Kellyaust my period began yesterday and is very heavy today, definitely not pregnant sadly. This was our last month trying naturally before going back to the doctors, gonna call next week to make an appointment. I think IUI is the next step, but let's see xx
