Trying to conceive!

My husband tends to struggle 'finishing' via intercourse and we tend to do this via foreplay - if you get my drift.

We are finding the pressure to have sex and finish is causing some performance issues and just adding to stress. I want the sex to be fun and enjoyable which I think means doing what we normally do.

I'm interested by tbe at home insemination/fertility cups but wondered if anyone had used them? Also looking at the instruction a lot of the cups say to insert once you've had sex to keep the sperm inside but has anyone used this method for their partner to finish into and then insert?

Thanks

Hi,

No experience of using a kit as such however stumbled across your post as in a similar position. Have you tried the kit yet?

moosey89 · 08/08/2023 19:13

Hi it's like you're talking about me and my partner! I literally posted earlier today too. We're using TwoPlus home artificial insemination - my partner finishes into the sample pot and it's a syringe type thing to then pop the sperm up into you. You can get an additional end which you leave inside for an hour which is meant to keep the sperm near the cervix for longer too if you want it (we use it because every little helps in my opinion!)
a

it's really simple to use and honestly I wouldn't conceive without them. I got pregnant second month of using them (sadly ended in miscarriage) but am back using them again now x

Daydreaming91 · 08/08/2023 19:26

Hi,

Thanks for sharing your experience, I'm sorry about your previous MC.

I will have a look at the kit you have suggested. It's such a stressful journey, fingers crossed for you and your partner x

Very sorry to hear about your miscarriage!

Thank you for posting and that is so reassuring. We're are giving it a go this month for the first time so I will report back on success :-)

Sending you lots of luck!

I have read some people recommend to leave the sample for 10mins so it changes consistency?

moosey89 · 09/08/2023 13:29

@Daydreaming91 yep - I think it says 20mins on the ones I use so it liquifies :)

Daydreaming91 · 10/08/2023 17:54

Thank you!

Sunshineclouds11 · 10/08/2023 17:58

Hey

We done home insemination and it worked on the 3rd attempt.

We used, a yoghurt pot and a Calpol syringe.
My DH done his sample into the pot, we kept it body temp for about 5 minutes to liquify and inserted.
I kept the syringe in for a minute or two then I just lay down for half an hour, couple of pelvic floor exercises and that's it.

Hi guys! So I have used the TwoPlus fertility and it's going fine but I'm so confused with my ClearBlue OPKs.

Last month I tracked exactly as the advanced monitor told me to and had a "high" reading and then took advice to do a second test, using the stick monitor from ClearBlue and got peak so used the TwoPlus twice over my peak days.

Anyhoo, no luck! So same this month, start testing on day 8 - low. Day 9 - high so managed sex, tested later in day on stick monitor and low/no ovulation. Day 10 (today) - high with advanced monitor. Tested with stick just now and low/not ovulating! What is going on???

I am testing twice to ensure I capture the peak/surge and ensure we use TwoPlus or have sex at least one during that peak period.

Am I doing something wrong? How can I go from high to no ovulation in 1 day, twice?

Is ClearBlue unreliable? Should I use Mira or similar?

Any help /advice would be amazing 😞

Clearblue is only designed for once a day testing so it might be confusing it if you're doing more than once a day!

SchofeTee · 06/09/2023 16:13

Hey everyone. I am currently ttc baby #3 and I'm looking for other people in their tww because it's agony.

I ovulated on the 28th so 2weeks on Monday but I have felt so weird the last 3/4 days. Cramping and back pain. Random waves of nausea. Not sure if it's all in my head though.

I have a test arriving today which is for up to 6 days early so I might do it tomorrow morning. Anyone else the same?

Hey! I have been using the Premom app and the ovulation strips that come with it. They're brilliant to use, not expensive and really pinpoint ovulation! Testing tomorrow when I'm due on on Monday!!

KS2305 · 06/09/2023 16:17

Thank you!l @SchofeTee! I'll deffo give that a go. Thank you 🙂

I've been using some cheaper ovulation tests I found online and they seem to be doing the trick and a lot cheaper than clear blue. They are just some ones that come up on eBay, I don't think they have a name as such but they come in a little pack and are just a strip. I think I paid about £7 for 30 tests.

I can't really help with the pattern of results as mine are sporadic due to my pcos (recent diagnosis and something else to go against us it feels 😩). Are you testing at the same time every day? Maybe try twice a day at the same time with a different test other than clear blue?

@Sunshineclouds11 I'm trying to conceive with this method at the moment, can I ask did you inseminate every day or every other day? I'm on my third cycle of this, last 2 months we did every day in fertile window but not sure what's the best amount to do

We done every other day.
There's plenty of people of who do one or the other and it's worked so whatever you feel is best for you both.

I'm out this month! Just waiting for AF to arrive. But I can't help noticing a vvfl.
What do you think? Can anyone see it?

Daydreaming91 · 18/09/2023 18:07

Hi, I have not been on here for a few days so just seen your post.

Have you done any further tests since your last message? X

KS2305 · 18/09/2023 21:34

I know this may be the most obvious thing in the world to say but Christ TTC is stressful!

I get 4 days "high" and two days "peak", regular periods, I even tested Pgd (progesterone) to test if I ovulated and according to that I did! Sex / insemination every other day and both peak days.

Can it really be a case of juts time? If you're testing all the right things and having sex / inseminating at the right time, surely something must be "wrong".

How long have you been trying for? There's something like a 20% chance each month that sperm and egg actually meet and the egg gets fertilized, and then it has to implant! Just keep going, often it really is just a case of time x

5 months "not preventing it" but 3 months properly tracking etc.

I know I need to be patient, just realise now that it's all I want, how bonkers it can send you - which doesn't help of course!

@KS2305 haha oh don't worry I totally get it! This time round I was "trying" for 3 months after not preventing for 3 months, sadly had an MMC and now onto cycle 2 of trying again since!

@KS2305 thank you - I'm doing ok, still get random waves of sadness but coping much better than my first MMC with my ex which was about 4 years ago. I'm just totally over the whole TTC thing - first time I started trying with my ex was 7 years ago! Granted there was a 3 year gap from when I split with him to starting trying with my current partner, but yeah a long time ago, I'd quite like to be a parent soon 😂

I can't imagine how hard that must be. I'm at the beginning of the journey and already I feel exhausted from it.

I have everything crossed for you that you are a parent very soon.
